The fire service has terms and acronyms that are sometimes hard to decipher for folks who aren't familiar with the trade. So, *what is a Quint?*

The term _**Quint**_ in the fire service refers to an apparatus that has five functions. Those being a truck that has a pump, water tank, fire hose, aerial device, and ground ladders.

The Quint is the jack of all trades on the fire ground. It can act as a pumper for fire attack, an aerial for rescue or elevated master streams sending 1200 gallons per minute, a truck company providing search and rescue or ventilation operations and many more fire ground tasks.

The photos above are my departments newest addition to the fleet. Properly named, *Quint 2*. The number two coming from the station that it will be assigned to to protect a portion of the city. It is equipped with a 107 foot aerial ladder, making it the furthest reaching ladder in the fleet.

This truck carries all sorts of tools for any job such as; pick head axes, flat head axes, ground ladders, positive pressure ventilation fans, oil dry (kitty litter), medical supplies, chainsaws, forcible entry tools, flashlights, vehicle stabilization and extrication tools ect. There are few jobs if any that is truck can't perform with a well trained crew.
Quint 2 pumped it's first fire on May 30th and has many years of service ahead.
