Appreciating the simpler forms of play and entertainment #ToyTrain

While I was In Delhi, I remember taking a toy train ride. The ride was between one shopping center to another, and its runs on wheels with no tracks. It was a nostalgic moment recalling the childhood days. There was a time during our childhood when we all gets attracted towards a **Toy train**. I think most of us have taken small ride either in parks or any amusement place. The repetitive, rhythmic motion of a train on tracks can be soothing and comforting, particularly for children learning to navigate an unpredictable world. These days we are unable to find the toy train , untill we were visiting any mega amusement parks. 


We might find, remote operated cars offering young kids a little ride either in shopping centre or any major public places. I have seen them on India gate too. But in our times **Toy train** used to be the sole ride option for entertainment in parks. Like this one, I found abandoned in its yard.

I know many of us have their faint memory about these fascinating rides. A "toy train" in a park usually refers to a small, often scaled down train ride designed for children and families, providing entertainment and amusement. They are commonly found in public parks, amusement parks, gardens, resorts, and entertainment centers. I found one dumped in the park. Surely it used to be a main attraction for the families and kids. I was strolling at one of the city old park, which led me to discover some old railway track. Following the trail lead me to reach a big iron cages - Toy train yard.

While, I was too excited on finding it, at the same time I was wondering about the good olden days. The train shunting on its track would have given some memorable time to the kids. It was a big park, most of which are now inhabited with trees and wild shrubs.

It appears to be in good condition, kept inside a big iron gate. May be it was the same yard where it was kept in its operational days.

The mere sight trigger a sense of wonder and curiosity, prompting me to examine the train and perhaps even imagine playing with it, even if just for a moment. My mind surrounded by many question. *What made these train to stop functioning? Why there is no caretaker of these olden memories? How it would have been in its days etc etc*. I slowly moving towards its direction in desperation and also quizzed. Wondering is there is anyone around. But the place is isolated. It was me, wild trees, shrubs and the toy train in its yard. I peeped inside the gate to take a closer. The train was still in good condition.

It was a typical kids toy train in a park, which is a scaled-down version of a real train. It was Red in color designed to resemble a classic steam engine or a more modern passenger train. These miniature toy trains typically consist of a locomotive engine and several passenger cars, all brightly colored and designed to be visually appealing to children. The coaches and compartments were designed resembling cartoon characters or other appealing themes for younger children.

Even at this age, finding the toy train evoke a mix of nostalgia, joy, and perhaps a touch of wistfulness. It was a heartwarming reminder of our childhood, sparking fond memories of playing with similar toys or riding on toy trains in parks. 

The toy train serves as a tangible link to the past, bringing back memories of simpler times, carefree playing days. In a world of complex technology, the simple charm of an old toy train can be refreshing.

Great photos!  That train almost looks like it could be the setting for a horror movie right now, but I would imagine at one time it was vibrant and amazing.

You've reminded me of my own childhood memories riding the Shipley Glen Tramway. Except this ride opened in 1853 is still running.

Growing up, the ride was around a mile away from my home. It ran uphill with those two carriages connected by steel cable. So that their weight counterbalanced each other. Allowing them to handle the gradient. It's a ride that I was able to take my daughter on. And now it's the turn of my grandsons. Especially in December for the Santa Special.

Though it was closed for a while. It was re-opened by volunteers. Who continue to operate it now. It's a lot of work to maintain. Including management of the surrounding woodland, cleaning, manning the two small stations, and operating the rides. But they manage to achieve this from May to September. As well as November/December.

Wow...it is a so amazing taking a ride in the greenary. This one is deserted. It is a part of an old city, but with time, no one is bothering to restart the services. Eventually it would end up with a great fun place for the kids...hope to these boggles rolling on the track again.
