NON NSFW - The Saint / Monk (Jainism)

*Firstly, I like to inform you all that this is not a NSFW post. Might many of you consider it to be a #nsfw post looking at the cover image. But there is something more important related with it.*

India is a vast country having multiple language, religion and culture. You will see many differrnt aspect of life and this aspect is one of them.

Though this is not common for all Indians, however this is very specific for our Jainism follower.

On my recent visit to one of the pilgrimage site, I came across this fellow old gentleman walking down the hill with ease and no cloth on his body. He looked to be around 50+ in age and walking down the hill very smoothly.

The pilgrimage site I am talking about is ***Hill of Parasnath***, in India. The mountain range is quite popular pilgrimage destination for **Jainism community**. These people are considered to be ***saint***. These section of people has nothing to do with the materialistic thing and live a simple life. They have a strict routine to follow. They belive that :

***Since everyone born nude,so nudity is the human natural state***.

These jain monks have no distortion of mind so they live naked like a little boy.

These Jain Saints do not wear clothes because they have take ***Diksha***. In order to attend ***Salvation***. These *saints* has to free from all kind of outer materialistic things. Even few pair of clothes or basic necessities may distract them from their path of attending salvation. These *Jain saints* do not wear any cloth in any of the season, they tackle extreme winter, summer & so all the different weather without clothes which is a big task. They eat/drink once in a day that to with very specific ingredients.

This is not usual culture to all Indians, however the Jain have this tradition of keeping themselves naked once they get into the path of salvation. Pretty interesting but not so easy for other common people who hesitate to even come in front of them and look them walking in general public.

Still these Saints have no issue and prefer to have own faith in their culture and tradition.

I was too shocked find one walking past me, but we have to respect every religion and culture.

I really don't get this, is it only when they get to the path of salvation they go naked or they've always been naked right from birth because of their culture?

This is a very difficult one honestly! I can't imagine myself without clothes at all during cold weather's. 
Quick question please?
I'm a lover of historical stories like this one so I have to ask! Don't some of them die due to cold weather?
Or does everyone one of them live to conquer the severe cold every season? I'm curious please.

These Jain lives a normal.life as we do...they enjoy going to movies , shopping mall and other normal fun that we do. But one thing is that prefer to eat dinner right before sunset and no food after that......leaving cloth and other materialistic things is after they  choose the path of salvation....even I am not 100% sure how they live life but they do make life of their own.

Such things do ezcite me as well...but I haven't get that inside too....but seriously never heard of any news of jains being died of cold. We have another community called *Nagas* the devotees of lord Shiva that still lives in  Himalayan range which has temp below 0° ....I saw few video on YouTube of them bathing with natural ice water......so I guess...  they easily adapt themselves...

When we see others having something or even doing something we aren't it can invoke a feeling of absence, many of us are persuaded by. Once we commit to the same actions, we often forget the first time we sighted or witnessed it. If the absence was simply an insecurity or a deficit we needed to compensate, it becomes apparent that we stopped living inside ourselves and became victims of desire or insecurity. In an age of consumerism i find it so compelling to read such great insights that are being shared. Shame is great example to convey this as that we were all born naked. If everyone would be naked, we might have the power to collectively induce shame in people wearing clothes? In a materialistic world if consumerism it is often the ones who thing they have something, that use it to cope with a lack or deficiency. When in fact maybe the ones who have nothing don't require anything to make them feel secure?

Wowow...such a beautiful thought from beautiful mind....feeli g shame is because other community doesn't follow the same culture....they also get offended seeing people like these monks  walking pass naked...they feel that would teach bad lesson for kids...but I agree...what to shame...when we are born naked..and also in our culture when we die, we don't take anything ...we put the body on pyre without any cloth
