I always find experiments intriguing. Obviously experiments play the role of being beacon of light to the entire humanity. Today I want to write about some of the experiments that doesn't care about scientific ethics and scientists with questionable methods.

Eventhough some of these experiments prooved its point and become really beneficial for humanity. I strongly think that it is good to have boundries. Oh I forgot to mention the best part some of these experiment got their own movie and really good ones.

#### The Monster Study (1939)
This experiment was performed in **University of Iowa** by **Wendell Johnson**. Wendell Johnson was a stutterer he was having trouble in speaking and he thought that those kind of problems can disappear with the help of science. He used 25 children between 5-12 age range in his study. Eventhough 15 children in the study were completely speaking well he started to give diction classes to these students without any seperation In the diction classes he used prize based methodology so If you are correct with your diction you will get compliments and chocolates , However if you fail in your diction practises you will face with endless mockery for being a slutterer and physical abuse. As a result of 6 month experimenting the children didn't show any positive healing , However after the experiment healthy subjects started to have speaking difficulties . In 2007 6 subjects opened a law suit because of the permenant damage and they won 950.000$.

#### The Third Wave Experiment (1967)
The movie **Die Welle** is about this experiment. This experiment have some similarities with the famous **Milgram Experiment**. I must admit that this is one of my favourite experiments. Experiments on social studies are totally exciting. This experiment happens in **Cubberly High** in California. The aim of the experiment to understand the pshycology of people in National Socialist Germany and history teacher **Ron Jones** wanted to proof even most democratic societies have a tendency for fasicism. Some of the rules of the experiment are simple and known. First day of school after the school bell rings all the students need to take their place in a minute. Students can't talk without getting permission and they need to end their sentences with saying **Mr Jones** . In second day **Ron Jones** told class that they are special and they require more discipline and they wanted to make experiment similar to real situation so he named the class **Third Wave**. Morever he teached the class the famous Nazi salute and he made it mandatory to use it between students. As a result all of the students obeyed the rules without any rebellion at the end of the 2nd day. In the 3rd day **Ron Jones** decided the range of the experiment and he made it to exclude entire school. The experiment become 43 subject experiment instead of 30. The students start to care each other even more and they started to think they have an actual purpose and He also observed that students start to enjoy from discipline and they even created a logo of the **3rd Wave**. After 10 days students started to show some agression to other students and they don't let others to enter their class because they were'nt member of the 3rd Wave party and **Ron Jones** shutdowned the experiment. #### Project MKultra (1950-1960)
This is an experiment runned by **Scientific Intelligence Agency** under the control of **CIA**. The purpose of the experiment was to test varius chemicals affects on the human brain including the drugs. They wanted to observe the change in the human brain with the chemicals. The children , the people with brain disefficiensies , women and soldiers used in the experiment as subjects. Especially after the World War II lots of countries accepted not to use Illegal Chemical substances. In this experiment they also violated the rules of the **Nuremberg Code**i In 1973 One of Cia's high executive **Richard Helms** wanted to destroy all the evidence and data about this experiment. After the documents leaked to the media , They claimed that everyone is going to see the evidences about this experiment and all the people responsible about this experiment was going to take responsiblity. Obviously none of them happened and they managed to destroy all the evidence secretly. #### Final Words
Well Obviously there are tons of experiments to mention like **Tuskegee Frengi** experiments or **Milgram Experiment** and The evil Zimbardo one. Also even mentioning about the World War II experiments done by Japan , Russia and Germany is highly disturbing. The benefits of scientific researches is really beneficial it is an undeniable fact , however I strongly advocate the fact that boundries and rules are always good in such public matter. #### Sources
**Images :** [1](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/33/a7/00/33a7000bd180e3b6b982d4a362f42860.jpg),[2](https://seyler.ekstat.com/max/800/e/eufMnUK6opzdI2sk-636410751340115740.jpg),[3](http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-OQW27OHXbFI/VOWeZnzFvrI/AAAAAAAAYMs/_jVYyjWRj_U/s1600/10%2BPsychological%2BExperiments%2BThat%2BWent%2BHorribly%2BWrong03.jpg),[4](http://sometimes-interesting.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/mkultra-8.jpg) - https://gizmodo.com/project-mkultra-one-of-the-most-shocking-cia-programs-1370236359 - https://timeline.com/this-1967-classroom-experiment-proved-how-easy-it-was-for-americans-to-become-nazis-ab63cedaf7dd - http://www.uh.edu/ethicsinscience/Media/Monster%20Study.pdf

####
Thanks For Reading & Hasta La Vista !

These experiments violates the rights of the citizenry and thinking about those periods make me wonder how callous a man can be to his fellow man. All in the name of science and winning wars.

Reading about this whole article and especially Project MKultra... reminded me of Japanese Maruta experiment during WW II. Have you heard of it? It's quite known in East Asia.

I think the knowledge gleaned can sometimes be worth the ethical "risk." Today we have all of these laws that nobody really follows, and to what end? That we may learn less? I put the "cusp" between the Milgrom and Zimbardo experiments but I am willing to admit that I could be wrong. Zimbardo was a student of Stanley Milgrom.

Great post @steeminator3000. This is a really fascinating topic, much of science has a really dark history that's very often forgotten.
