Thank you for the update, and *above all* thanks for the commitment to better communication with the community. I'm also glad to see what looks like a trend towards smaller but more frequent updates/changes.

The tweaking of both rewards for posting and curation needs to be worked out fairly well before Steemit is truly ready for the "big time" marketing effort that might bring 100's of thousands of new accounts within months... so I'm glad to see this.

I am also hopeful that a near-future update/hardfork will take a look at "modernizing" the Steemit interface to not only include better keywording/sorting of posts into manageable topics (communities?) but also an effort to integrate the growing number of Steemit based apps into some kind of master interface. Once we tend towards "large scale" new users will be less and less tech savvy, and will expect a single interface (like CrackBook) not a bunch of independent apps. Yes, I know we worship at the altar of Decentralization here, but there *are* some aspects of centralized structure that have value... especially for a large scale venture.

This is great news! Apreciate the new way of working. I'm sure, as you do, this will make our community incl Steemit Inc stronger. Also super to read on your decision to release more frequent new HF with lesser features. Chapeau!

I liked whales controlling themselves because it was a good thing to do, forcing them to exercise restraint is a step backward to me.

More options within the current rules is a good thing, to me.

I would like you to consider, if you want to change it again, that it be expressed as a witness parameter.  Perhaps only offer two states (old and new) to the witnesses to avoid spoilers and vote splitting.

What does Hat, H mean?  In the olden days of terminal emulation, when people were typing e-mails into their dumb terminals, certain keys were mapped to indicate backspace.  Sometimes, the wrong character mapping was used and instead of removing the characters, it would add `^H` to the line.  If the author was in a hurry, they wouldn't always notice this situation, and they'd run the risk of sending the e-mail with the unintended characters.

Today, this expression is used to convey humor and/or irony.

This is a great post and it is well done.  I am for the increase in voting power.  Yes, the security of the blockchain is sacrosanct.  One time I lost 3,000,000 coins with a blockchain that choked and puked.  I lost several hundred pot coin when it went belly up for  awhile.  Hopefully this will never happen on Steemit.

Perhaps running the program from a no write hard drive or DVD would be possible as a complete prevention of attack and an elevated security status.

My one suggestion would be that you guys show some examples of what the changes will bring. For this one, you guys could show what a 100k SP account voting on a "$0" post looks like in terms of rewards given with the current rewards curve. Verses what that same account would give in the new linear model.

Just anything like that would be helpful for people to see examples of what these changes will actually do in practice. 

I know I for one am a very visual learner and it helps to see examples. Thanks! :)

It's great to have explanatory posts like this and to continue to improve communication. I think that it would be nice to have a news button or similar where we can instantly get updates and info.

For example the promoted posts feature is still not quite what it was and it would be good to have that explained.

About the voting change, I can see where everyone is coming from, but I'm afraid regular manual curators are going to be affected. I can tell you there are 30 good posts daily from authors who have joined within the last month alone. Most regular curators are making approximately 50 votes per day now, and this is only going to go up as the network grows. Of course, with this change, regular curators can go to 25% strength and give out the same number of votes. But there's a crucial difference - casual curators will vote with 4x as much influence, effectively crowding out the regular curators from the reward pool. I doubt witnesses or developers are aware of the ground realities of deep curation, so I guess curators will simply take a hit. Some of the lesser known - but some of the very best authors - whom only engaged curators can discover will be left behind.

I have a happy solution though - I hope to see whales and Steemit Inc employees delegate SP to the engaged curators who really keep the site organized. That'll nicely compensate for the 4x reduction in curation capacity.

Thanks for the information and transparency.  Nobody expects perfection, but we all can be comforted when there is trust and openness.  Keep us pointed in the right direction and the community will push forward.

Linear voting rewards and changing the daily vote target are two experiments that will have an effect on the same thing. Combining two experiments in one will produce less valuable feedback with a higher chance of unforeseen consequences.

Specifically one consequence that I can foresee is diminished potential for increased rewards going to comments, which is meant to be brought about by a linear or less-superlinear reward curve.

Therefore doing these two things at once is not recommended by this witness.

There is just one small simple change I have been waiting for since I got here, linear rewards. Everything else is secondary imo

Return on the issue of interface enhancement. Currently it does not put the user's posts in the right place. I suggest evaluating changes and seeing examples like Niume or Minds. For me, this aspect is much more important than the mode of revenue. You have to have a friendly site ...
