10 Free Curb-Salvaged Items Found, Saved & Sold For $1,110 (96 pounds) -- How Do You Help Our Environment?

Do you offset any of the waste you create or the energy you spend?

I have several thousands of examples throughout the years. This also equals thousands of pounds.

See below for a clip of 10 more recent sales of items I've saved from my city's curbside recycling before they were destroyed on a truck.

This 2018 double stroller was sold for $220 cash. The buyer was thrilled for the positive experience. The stroller seat fabric required intensive hand washing, but I got the job done. I found it opened up at the corner of a street resting against a public garbage bin. Since I had found 6 Le Creuset pots/pans just before, it was helpful to wheel everything home. Stroller weight was roughly 28 pounds.

TaylorMade M2 golf driver sold for $150 cash. The buyer was from Florida and in town for work with a golf tournament to play while in my city. He had the same driver at home and was very happy to find this on short notice. Weight of 15 ounces.

3 golf wedges sold for $80 cash. They were worth about $100, but I ran with a buyer who made himself available immediately after contacting me from right down the street. I agreed just to move them, and then got several messages for full price after. Weight of 3 pounds 2 ounces. Still a win.

There are still 3 clubs left to sell. I have a pair listed for $120, and the other is worth about $40.

This algebra book was virtually unused. It sold easily for $75. Current math textbooks are easy to flip. Weight with recycled packaging of 3 pounds 14 ounces.

This crutch substitute was sold for $100 cash. I went to a local thrift store for fun and found nothing there. On the walk out, this was leaning against a trash receptacle, clearly rejected by the thrift store. Fortunately, I don't make those types of mistakes. Weight of 4 pounds 4 ounces.

Miele vacuum sold for $120 cash. These are one of these easiest items to resell. The demand is absurd for some reason. Weight of 14 pounds.

This food processor base part worked great. It was missing one part that's hard to find, so I sold it online at a heavily discounted $95. Weight with recycled packaging of 11 pounds.

Here's another complete Miele vacuum sold for $120 cash. It was heavily scuffed with white marks, but rubbing alcohol took it right off. Weight of 18 pounds 5 ounces.

- No costs outside of 4 shipping labels that had their cost built in to their online price.

- That's $1,110 in free revenue earned and 96 pounds saved.

- Per usual, the hard work is not in this post. It's in the time and effort to find these items, among countless others, saving them from being destroyed, and then finding them new homes. I love this process and hope that my examples motivate others to reconsider if they're doing enough to help our environment.

Thanks. It was a special edition one too. I couldn't obtain the matching drive socket since it was missing when I found the unit. This is likely why the owner tossed it out in the first place. I probably would've kept it if I found the socket.
