Finding Brit Floyd

<p>Pink Floyd is probably my favourite band. They have a unique sound and an incredible range of sounds. Of course they can never be together on stage again and although Roger Waters and David Gilmour are still performing admirably, they are now in their seventies and father time is waiting in the wings.</p>
<p>This got me thinking as to what the future holds for those who didn't have the pleasure of witnessing Pink Floyd in concert. I wondered if anyone out there was flying the flag for the future of live Pink Floyd music. Searching through youtube I managed to find lots of tribute bands but none of them could capture the essence of Pink Floyd...until I came across Brit Floyd.</p>
<p>I was immediately blown away by just how close to the real thing they are. My favourite Pink Floyd album is <em>Animals</em> and my favourite song from that album is <em>Dogs</em>. I rushed to the play button when I saw the below video and waited in anticipation as to how they could possibly pull this off. I was not to be disappointed.</p>

<p>Another great Pink Floyd song is <em>Welcome To The Machine</em> and Brit Floyd have pulled off something special with this one in that I actually prefer their version of this song to that of Pink Floyd themselves. Something I thought I would never say. How could I expect a band to perform a Pink Floyd song better than Pink Floyd? Check out Brit Floyd's version of the song below and let me know what you think.</p>

<p>What about this version of <em>Mother</em> from <em>The Wall </em>album? They shake things up again here making good use of the wonderful female vocalists.</p>

<p>Another well known Floyd favourite is <em>The Great Gig In The Sky</em> and with Ola Bienkowska pushing out the high notes they have produced a stunning version of this song. Don't take my word for it...listen for yourself.</p>

<p>Something else which caught my attention about Brit Floyd is their willingness to play many of the older classics which old timers will enjoy. Here they play <em>Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun</em> from the 1968 album <em>A Saucerful Of Secrets.</em></p>

<p>Brit Floyd formed in 2011 when Damien Darlington left <em>The Australian Pink Floyd Show </em>after 17 years. He formed Brit Floyd in the knowledge that he could improve on the sound of the Australian Floyd Show. He was not wrong. I've heard the Australian Floyd and whilst they do a good job they are simply outclassed by the superior Brit Floyd. In the words of Damien Darlington</p>

That rendition of 'Dogs' is awesome, its a song a I love too. The guitar sections are pinned down too a tee.

They've certainly put the hours in. Complex and difficult to do but they do it so well. Their version of the equally complex 'pigs' is also awesome.

I love Floyd too, but I've yet to see any of the tribute acts. I never saw Floyd either. I have slightly mixed feelings about tribute acts as I'd like to see people do their own music, but there are bands that we can never see again and the demand is there.

Same here pal. I like these guys because it means future generations can enjoy the live Floyd experience. They really do them justice which was a concern for me. I've never heard a bad word spoken about the Brit Floyd live show. Those who attend go back for more as their expectations are always surpassed and they're very affordable.

I love that you love Pink Floyd, as I am also a massive fan (not the one that blows air :) ) more like a worshiper. What they made is just astonishing and impressive - "from" this world + they were way ahead their time.

Now I heard Brit Floyd.... but that's just replicating - even if it is perfect they still can't be and won't be Pink! If they produce, compose and write some lyrics in that style that will be awesome but to me they are just another cover band and no matterhow good  they are - they are not authors. )

BTW; which one is pink? :)

I like the fact that future generations will be able to go to a Floyd gig and experience something close to the real thing. It's something I thought impossible until I came across these guys. They played at Dave Gilmour's 50th birthday party and gained his admiration.
