**Welcome to the 8th Bitshares State of the Network (BSotN) report. I will be releasing this report weekly to look at the changes in the ecosystem and track longer term changes in a effort to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares platform.**


## Bitshares - State of the Network - 30th October 2016
The Bitshares State of the Network Reports seeks to combine raw data from a wide range of metrics and combine them into meaningful information to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares network.  

This week i am changing to include one new metric and also a small change to the structure; from now on the observations will be listed at the top and i will also include a chart showing the revenue/expenses of the reserve pool.


## Observation from this week
This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.

* @svk has just released version 2.0.161031 of the Bitshares light client including some cosmetic fixes, a few updates and bug fixes; check out the change log and download the latest version [HERE](https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2/releases)

* Bitshares user 'pc' has drafted a BSIP (Bitshares Improvement Proposal) to make changes at the protocol level to enable the revival of 'Black Swan' Market Pegged Assets and completed Prediction Markets details can be found [HERE](https://steemit.com/bitshares/@cyrano/bsip-revive-bitassets-after-global-settlement) and discussions can be found [HERE](https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,23334.0.html)

* Bitshares user 'alt' has created an android based Bitshares wallet (btsbot wallet) with a market making bot built in; at the moment the bot only trades CNY/BTS with a limit of 10 CNY per order; you can find more details [HERE](https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,23457.0.html)

* Peerplays testnet has been updated, with changes coming to the GUI and updated genesis block which includes BTS held in open orders when the snapshot happened.

* Beyond the Void has announced their ICO crowd sale starting on the 1st of November; ICO will be conducted primarily in ETH and the amount of NXC will decrease in stages as normal with ICO for more details please see [HERE](https://beyond-the-void.net/index.php/nexium-price/) due to the partnership with [OpenLedger](https://openledger.info) you can find a special link which will allow sale in Bitshares with a 5% bonus [HERE](https://beyond-the-void.net/index.php/openledger/)

* Orders on the Bitshares DEX from Top 100 holders has increase w/w by 9.12%

* Top 100 Bitshares holders have increased w/w by 1.29%

* Exchange balances have increased w/w by 2.7% 

* BTC38 has seen another large jump in its holdings making the gap between it and poloniex even smaller, at this rate we might have a new leader in terms of exchanges in only a few short weeks, 23 Million shares is all that separates these 2 giants.

* The last asset registered this week is asset #1183 and is named 'GAME' registered by 'enter'

* [enter](http://cryptofresh.com/u/enter) has continued his rampage of name registrations, still registering 3 letter user names; This guy is up to something!!, IMHO these names are not for name squatting; he has also registered a lot of assets; the most recent of which 'GAME' is a lot more expensive than you average 5 letter asset. looking forward to hearing what he is building although i feel like we will not  get official statement until his completed his acquisition.

* Fun Casino has taken a 22 BTC overall loss this week off the back of a major winner of 17 BTC as a result their will be no distribution to FUNC holders this week

This sections seeks to analyse the current distribution of the network. We look at the current supply, top 100 hodlers, Orders on the Bitshares Decentralized Exchange (DEX), Reserve pool balance and Income growth.
