2000 AD lived on well beyond that date

[2000 AD](https://www.2000adonline.com/) comic is 40 years old! It's had some rough times, but is still going. The [story behind it](https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/feb/26/forty-years-of-2000ad-looking-back-on-the-future-of-comic-books) is interesting. I know I bought a fair few issues, but it's a long time since I read any. I have seen both the Judge Dredd movies. The recent one seems close to the mood of the comics.

The UK scene was prepared by another comic called [Action](https://www.theguardian.com/books/2016/oct/21/action-70s-kids-comics-violence-magazine-publishing). I probably bought just about every edition of that, but it was shut down after 36 for being too violent. I was only 10 at the time, so who knows what it did to my young brain. Unfortunately I don't have any of my old comics any more. I had the original Star Wars comics too, but they are long gone. We just didn't consider that they would have any value in the future. A final issue of Action that escaped being pulped sold for [over £2,500!](http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Action-comic-23rd-Oct-1976-ULTRA-RARE-ISSUE-30-copies-printed-FN-phil-comics-/271876254428).

There had been war comics before this, but I was used to things like the Beano around that time.

I've been getting into some newer comics that are aimed at an adult audience recently. They explore interesting ideas, like the science fiction I've been reading for most of my life. I don't have much reading time, but I welcome any suggestions.
