We hear news of deals on reducing climate change, but it's really going to take something radical to get us off [the current path](http://www.climatecentral.org/news/unep-report-climate-change-20846) to higher temperatures that could have disastrous effects. The [Paris](https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/nov/04/paris-climate-change-agreement-enters-into-force) agreement aims to keep the rise under 2 degrees, but even that could be bad and if a certain businessman becomes the most powerful person in the world then he may pull his country out.

China puts out the most CO2, but is making some efforts to improve, if only to cut the terrible pollution. The cost of economic growth has been poisoning of air, water and earth. Even without climate change we can't keep on like that. What's the point in money if we're all sick from ingesting crap?

Individual efforts can't make much difference, but we will have to change our attitudes. We really don't need as much stuff as we keep buying. We can change our habits to cut waste in fuel, power and materials.  Poorer countries want a better standard of life, so we should set a good example.

I want my kids to have a decent world to live in.
