Morning Run: Lost

  steevc just finished a 17.36km run, that lasted for 112 minutes.

  **Description from Strava:**      
This run turned out a little longer than planned. I started off heading up to Fairfield, as I often do. Then it was out the other side towards Letchworth, retracing part of the Standalone 10k. Then I did a bit of the Greenway Half course to The Wilbury where I took my selfie. This pub features in The World's End movie. There is a track that runs down the side of the pub that takes you along a ridge with great views of the local countryside. I had to do a panorama shot there.

The track emerges by the lavender farm at Ickleford. I still wonder what the metal rails are that you can see there. There is no footpath under the railway bridge. A car stopped to let me go under, but I told them to carry on and I just waited until nothing was coming.

I have not run the track from Ickleford to Arlesey many times and it is not very well signposted, so I was wondering if I would find my way. The first part was not too bad, but the farmers have ploughed over some paths that go across their fields. I got to some farm houses and then I was not so sure. I tried one wide track, but it led to a field with no obvious path. I explored around there for a while, but I was sure it was wrong. Eventually I tried a different direction that also involved cross in a ploughed field, but I spotted the footbridge on the far side that I was seeking. I had been getting a bit worried, but if I had reached a road I could have found my way home. You are just a long way from anything around there.

I crossed a couple more fields and bridges to find myself by another farm that I know near home and then I knew where to go. My legs were tiring by then, but I gently jogged home.

It was a lovely morning to be out in the countryside. I think it rained in the night, but I had blue skies. It started cool, but warmed up a bit. My podcast listening was mostly Cryptomaniacs and No Guitar Is Safe.

So I have run at least a half marathon this weekend. I hope it is doing me some good.

I remember that movie. That's pretty cool that they filmed at the local pub. 

Running by a lavender field would be nice when it's the season. Probably a little late to see any flowers I'm sure.

The World's End was filmed around various local places, so it's fun for us to watch.

I don't go through the lavender field, but I pass fairly close. That farm is very popular with Chinese tourists, but I expect it's not the season for it now.

Yeah seeing local sites in movies does make them fun to watch. We liked the recent Grey Man movie for that reason, because the castle where most of the filming was done was 20 minutes from our house lol
