Morning Run: Ooops

**Description from Strava:**
It was a nice morning to go running. Not too warm, but dry and not windy. I had decided to run up to Langform. I knew there could be mud around, but risked using my road shoes that lack any tread. I went up over the big road bridge to cross the railway. The path up to Champney's was a little slippery and there was more mud on the track by the lakes. I took the photo just after Champney's. That fence is quite rustic.

At Langford there were a couple of egrets in the river as I crossed the bridge, but they flew off before I could get my phone out. Then it was the trek across the flat, open fields where I passed a lady running the other way. On the track into Clifton there were some big puddles. One covered the whole road, so I hopped up on the verge to get around it. That was a bit slippery and I was sliding about before I went down on my arse. I am not sure anyone saw this, but I felt a bit foolish. No harm done, so I rinsed my hands in the puddle and jogged on, with a muddy bum on my shorts.

I decided to investigate a lane with some new houses. I found it was a pretty big development. There are lots of these springing up around the villages. I did a loop back to where I had just been and was passed by someone (probably a guy) in a ridiculously noisy Corvette. That is illegal and anti-social, but they probably get away with it.

I stayed away from any further mud on the way back. I passed one guy out running in Henlow before being passed by another who was much quicker than me. I was not going to try to keep up.

I cross the railway on the footbridge and took the long way around to get back home. The main road through Arlesey is closed again as they keep digging trenches for various pipes, so I could run on the road a bit.

It was a good run considering my legs were tired from yesterday, but I need these endurance outings to prepare for the half marathon.

Would have been great to get an action shot of you going down! 🤣

Those anti-social people are a real nuisance. They could do with a slap behind the ears, but that's not happening anymore...
We've got those areas here too; spoke to an elderly lady the other day who got one of the properties where they constantly rip down the fences just for fun.
She's trying to sell up, but I dare say that she might be struggling. Not nice.

There's a tiny minority who cause trouble, but they know they can get away with it most of the time. I think we have less 'community spirit' these days. I'm not saying we need vigilantes, but people need to communicate more locally and not just on Facebook.

Good to see you out and running despite the conditions, spring is coming just gotta hold out for a little bit longer.

very interesting you mention you mention the corvette with the loud sounds for a few years down here in Norwich boy racers are everywhere and it's even worse as you head out towards the Norfolk Coasts. They seem to always get away with it. even the carpark outside my workplace often has youths doing car meets and races at night.

I was never that into cars, but you get these types everywhere. There used to be some meets around here, but one ended when a load of people got injured due to some guys racing. There's a college near work where they train mechanics and they would be out showing off their noisy cars some days. What will they do when we all go electric? They can still put lights and stuff on their cars.

Curious about that particular part of your morning run. Is owning a Corvette illegal or is the noise illegal or is the path it was on a illegal path for cars? Also, why does driving a car = anti-social? Is it the location? 

Oh, and in reference to your fall, glad all you got was muddy. It's weird how the older we get things like falls become something altogether different. Heck, these days I can wake up in pain from sleeping wrong. I mean really?! Sleeping wrong? Yep. It's a thing.

Cars are supposed to have functioning silencers on the exhaust, This was way louder than it should be. I get that race cars are allowed to be loud, but this much noise is just annoying in an urban environment. I get that some people like their car to make the 'right' noise, but if they do this they are probably likely to break other laws such as speed limits. I know I sound like a boring old guy :) In my motorbike days I did go pretty fast at times, but only on roads where it was safer and my bike had a legal exhaust.

I am conscious that my old body is slower to heal, so I am keen to avoid injury. I got off lightly this time.
