Back in the USSR

<p>I was reading <a href="https://steemit.com/golos/@cryptos/trying-out-golos-the-russian-only-alternative-of-steemit">a post</a> by @cryptos about Golos, which is a fork of the Steemit system for Russian speakers. I see I have <a href="https://golos.io/@steevc">an account</a> there, but it seems they copied some of the Steemit data. I only have the default Golos coins. You have to start again there and anything you earn will not affect your Steemit account. It's a totally separate blockchain. I assume there are good reasons to do this, but I see it as a missed opportunity. Steem/Steemit will be a more effective force if it is truly global so that Steem can be a universal currency, like Bitcoin. It ought to be possible to tag posts with a language and then allow users to select the languages they want to see. Steem should not just be something to hoard and convert to Bitcoin. It can be a true currency.</p>
