The damage should surely be included on their balance sheets. Very very well said. I am from a developing country unlike United States. Even here, I feel the industrialists are the biggest cause of these murders being caused due to pollution etc. People don't have clean water to drink in many areas. That's not what they deserve as humans. The gap between them and the middle class is increasing rapidly and has to be contained right away in order to reduce down all types of evil, crime for example.

everyone should support who are trying their level and who are working to make a better world for all everyone need supports :)

Is widening the gap between the rich and the poor an inherently evil phenomena? If so, if someone starts making more than others around him, is he now a part of "the evil" deteriorating societies?

We all have to do something that will make the world a better place. So far that does not work.

I think fiscal policies are to blame for hyper consumerism and as for climate change i am still waiting to see real evidence.

Are you sure global warming is real? I thought it was a Chinese conspiracy to kill the USA and Europe industry. Maybe they have built their own [HAARP](http://www.cracked.com/funny-3304-haarp-conspiracy-theory/) to manipulate the weather and make the theory more convincing.

Now seriously, we live in a world that has elections every 4-5 years and companies declare their balances at least once per year. This system encourages politicians and businessmen to only take care of short-term consequences.

The only way to protect the environment and reduce inequality is that people start massive protests. But it seems so much technology made my generation very conformist.

Great topic @steevc, I think, that the rich do not care about us, even if they show some kind of participation in our destiny, then only with their own interest :)

"A rising tide lifts all boats".  

The statement above is usually used to refer to the idea that a growing economy is good for EVERYBODY.  

It sounds nice, but the reality is that the majority of people in America are focused on "doing well" - specifically, better than their neighbor, the Joneses.  We need to change our mindset to that of "doing good" - finding ways for everyone to prosper, live a healthy and productive life, and have the freedom to do what they want (or at least the opportunity for these things).  

I think that's what the Real American Dream is about, and sadly we are moving further and further away from it.  

Doing well means trying to lift YOUR boat, ignoring those around you.  
Doing good means trying to raise the tide, knowing Your boat (as well as everyone elses) will rise too.
