In the past there have been stories of [copying keys from a photograph](https://gizmodo.com/any-key-you-can-photograph-is-a-key-that-can-be-copied-1522264272). There have been cases where it happened in a prison, but it could be an issue if a criminal can film you unlocking your house. If you know then you can get new locks.

Now it's [considered a risk](https://www.theguardian.com/technology/shortcuts/2017/jan/13/peace-sign-photos-copy-fingerprint-smartphone) to expose your fingers if you use your fingerprint to unlock you phone or other devices. Obviously celebrities get photographed all the time and cameras are good enough for a peace sign to give away your prints. People do this in selfies too. The big problem is that you can't change your fingers. This is a general issue with [biometric security](https://www.techopedia.com/definition/6203/biometric-security). Databases of fingerprints [have been hacked](https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/sep/23/us-government-hack-stole-fingerprints), so all those people cannot rely on using their prints for any secure purposes.

Being secure keeps getting harder. The crooks will keep on developing better technology and normal people cannot keep up.
