Getting Steemit out there

I'm doing my best to make people aware that Steemit exists. I posted about my [fake news checker idea](https://steemit.com/news/@steevc/we-need-tools-to-help-us-check-for-fake-news) in [the group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/4287320286/) for a BBC World Service technology show and got some good responses. I don't know how many of them clicked through, but it's a group who are interested in new technology, so I hope some followed it up. There are 9676 people in that group.

Then yesterday I tweeted my [post about the guitar show](https://steemit.com/guitar/@steevc/guitar-show-in-birmingham) and tagged the organisers. They re-tweeted it to a potential audience of 1728 people.

I'm not going to mis-sell Steemit by claiming it can make you rich, but we can get it out there as an alternative to ad-based sites that may censor what you post. Steemit is still very small really with only a few thousand active users (and lots of bots). If it can scale up to hundreds of thousands then it could take off.
