I have watched quite a few videos on drumming doubles where you are hitting twice in a row with the same stick. It is not as simple as you might suppose as there are various techniques to build speed. I am seeing some definite improvements and my weak right hand seems to be coping.

For a change I was using a metronome. I have [GTick](https://www.antcom.de/gtick/) in Ubuntu Studio. There are phone apps, but I am recording the videos on my phone as I have audio sync issues when I record from the PC.

I am still considering enrolling on a course, but then I think that might push me into buying a decent drumkit, so it could work out expensive. I would probably have to get an electronic kit to maintain domestic harmony. I am keen to make some progress with my music this year. 

I had some whisky for Christmas and it seemed a shame to throw away the box. It is just right for storing drumsticks.

Ya, I think it's the left hand and right hand doing different rhythms and pacing that gets me... Like when you try to rotate you foot in the opposite way to your hand and you just can't do it!! :)

Oh good for you! I usually get yelled at by the wife for practicing my drumming. Although, she does like it when I practice on her back. lol. 

Really though.. Looks like your getting the hang of it quite well. Best of luck at the up coming gig! 

Also nice drum stick holder. It sickens me to think about all of the holder I have tossed out over the years. I threw a 18 yr The Macallan drum stick holder away about 3 months ago! dang.

I try to keep the noise down to avoid domestic issues. I have my own 'music room'.

I think I will need to replace my stick holder at least once a year. It's bound to wear out, so I can ask for a new one.

Nice job! You seem to be getting the hang of it pretty well.  I really don't think the electronic kits save you that much space.  I mean a little for sure, but to have a decent setup it still spreads out a bit from what I have seen.

I have tried drumming once, when my sister in law was trying to teach me, and I was surprised how hard it actually is, since you have to deal with all these different beats in your left and right hands and then a different beat with your feet.
I admire the drumers and love, love listening to them.

I'd like to get a basic drum machine for my next piece of musical gear. Nothing fancy, just something that spits out some basic rhythms and is easy to program. I'd just like a beat to play along with when I'm practicing and working on my own stuff. 

That's pretty cool that you're actually learning to play drums now and not just using a machine.
