My first photo(s)
I saw @winstonwolfe [post](https://peakd.com/hive-194913/@winstonwolfe/do-you-still-have-the-first-photo-you-took-with-your-very-first-camera) this #My1stPhoto challenge. I may be older than him as it was a long time before I had any sort of digital camera. I do have my old photo album and here is an early page where I know I took the photos. I am not sure if they were the very first ones I took.

![Album](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/steevc/23w2nsdVRezP3RCu5ivoxmeCRJMatDfhj4TYDJYoL8hWkhQ8G1uxNw8kZo5E6Nbzufjji.png)

I was obviously fascinated by the pigeon wandering around the garden. The grey rabbit (Smokey) was mine and died not long after this. The white one (can't remember name) lived a lot longer and was quite vicious.

The camera was something like this one with the film cartridge and disposable flash cubes.

![Camera](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/steevc/23zbSBrPSG8Pw8ycp3P1EDz1skTU66LgpR45bmBWV8vNnrM7mvzr3aW2d9DxieqSvzMhn.png)
Picture from [Pxhere](https://pxhere.com/en/photo/464624) by Robert Course-Baker (licenced for personal and commercial use).

When you had just a few pictures on each film and had to wait to get them delivered you would not take so many photos as it was not cheap. I still have quite a few from back then.

Nice! I used to have an Instamatic too. I think it was a given that anyone had one of those as their first camera back then! I love how it made the pictures come out square. Not that standard 5x7 that you are used to with a 35mm camera. I still have all of my old pictures in a album too. I think a lot of them are from a trip that we took down to North and South Carolina.

I had a few 35mm cameras too, but nothing too fancy. I have others from my parents and earlier. Some of those photos are tiny, but I have scanned a lot of them, so we can blow them up. Need to preserve that family history. Now we just have so many photos.

Yeah, I hear you. My dad sold his medium format portrait camera when we were kids to buy us all Nikon's. It was very exciting.

This reminds me of my kids going to camp quite a few years ago. They weren't allowed to take phones or digital cameras. They were allowed those single use cameras that took around 24 photos. The whole class got their films developed and almost 100% of them were of the first 20 minutes of the bus trip and almost 90% of them were out of focus.

You might be a bit older than me, but I’m 41. I actually started my photography experience in a camera store in 1999, and I definitely did start on film. But I have no idea which image was the first one. LoL It’s a lot easier to find the time stamp on a digital image than on a 35mm negative. ;-)

Those pictures were probably around 1974. A very different time, but a kid could still have fun with a camera.
