Viewing a response to: @hitmeasap/hive-marketing-a-waste-of-time-or-not
Hive is a crap name. Even heating controls will rank higher on search results. We can market the dapps, but I think we need to build awareness that they have a common platform. Could we come up with some variant of Hive, e.g. HiveChain, that is easier to search for? Changing the whole brand and logo would be too much hassle, but we could do better than what we currently have. I am no expert on branding and SEO, but we have plenty of people here with the experience. I'm sure there could be some collective effort for the good of the platform.

I don't think it's necessary to change the actual name to something else, but I do think it's crucial for people to promote dApps **instead** of Hive to the outside world if we're trying to "onboard the masses." Average Joe doesn't care about Hive being in the background for everything or not. He will care about the specific dApp he found. Joe should care that getting an account for one dapp opens up the others too. Gamers may want to blog/vlog too.

I agree with you. Joe **should** care, but I don't think he does at first glance. I think Joe is more likely to enjoy the dApp he found and that he will learn with time how things works. That's why I would rather point people straight to the second layer stuff rather than pointing them towards "Hive".
