**Introduction**
In this article I talk about elementary functions. We can consider elementary functions as the roots of the function tree.
We can collect the elementary functions in this list:
-Linear functions
-Constant function
-Absolute value function
-Exponential function
-Logarithmic function
-Trigonometric functions
-Inverse trigonometric functions
The fact that they are called elementary functions is due to the fact that they are basic functions with known rules of domain, limits, derivatives and integrals.

**Example of linear function**
The linear function is expressed mathematically as follows:

The graph is a straight line. The number m is called the angular coefficient. If m=0 we have f(x) = q (which would be a constant function) and the graph is a straight line parallel to the x-axis. If q = 0 and m=1 we obtain the identity function f(x) = x
Where:
m = angular coefficient, slope
intercept q=1, point where the straight line cuts the y-axis.

**Example of absolute value function**
The absolute value in mathematics is also indicated as modulus.
The absolute value of x is the modulus of x which is the non-negative quantity. That is, the absolute value of 6 is 6, and the absolute value of -6 is always 6.
Basically the absolute value function is a function defined on all of R (the set of real numbers), non-negative, even, non-injective and non-surjective.
The absolute value function is mathematically described as follows:

In this article we have indicated the elementary functions and shown some of them. The elementary functions are the basic functions that constitute the fundamental building blocks of the analysis. The elementary functions are an essential tool for studying the behavior of curves. We can say without a shadow of a doubt that knowing the elementary functions well means having the keys to understanding mathematical analysis.

Elementary functions are the basis of mathematical analysis, but they are not enough to describe anything.

**Introduzione**
In questo articolo parlo delle funzioni elementari. Le funzioni elementari possiamo considerarle come le radici dell'albero delle funzioni.
Le funzioni elementari possiamo raccoglierle in questo elenco:
-Funzioni lineari
-Funzione costante
-Funzione valore assoluto
-Funzione esponenziale
-Funzione logaritmica
-Funzioni trigonometriche
-Funzioni trigonometriche inverse
Il fatto che vengano chiamate funzioni elementari è dovuto al fatto che sono funzioni base con regole note di dominio, limiti, derivate e integrali.
Qui di seguito un elenco di funzioni elementari per lo studio di funzione:

**Esempio di funzione lineare**
La funzione lineare si esprime matematicamente così come segue:

Il grafico è una retta. Il numero m viene chiamato coefficiente angolare. Se m=0 si ha f(x) = q (che sarebbe una funzione costante) ed il grafico è una retta parallela all'asse x. Se q = 0 e m=1 si ottine invece la funzione identità f(x) = x
Dove:
m = coefficiente angolare, pendenza
intercetta q=1, punto in cui la retta taglia l'asse y.

**Esempio di funzione valore assoluto**
Il valore assoluto in matematica viene indicato anche come modulo.
Il valore assoluto di x è il modulo di x che è la quantità non negativa. Cioè, il valore assoluto di 6 è 6, ed il valore assoluto di -6 è sempre 6.
Sostanzialmente la funzione valore assoluto è una funzione definita su tutto R (l’insieme dei numeri reali), non negativa, pari, non iniettiva e non suriettiva.
La funzione valore assoluto matematicamente si descrive come segue:

***Conclusioni***
In questo articolo abbiamo indicato le funzioni elementari e mostrato qualcuna di esse. Le funzioni elementari sono le funzioni di base che costituiscono i mattoni fondamentali dell’analisi. Le funzioni elementari sono uno strumento essenziale per studiare il comportamento delle curve. Possiamo affermare senza ombra di dubbio che conoscere bene le funzioni elementari significa avere le chiavi per comprendere l’analisi matematica. 

***Domanda***
Le funzioni elementari sono la base dell'analisi matematica, ma non bastano per descrivere qualsiasi cosa. 
Lo sapevate che oltre alla funzioni elementari per descrivere tutto servono anche le funzioni “speciali”?
Lo sapevate che per secoli i matematici hanno cercato di chiudere certi integrali con formule elementari, ma non ci sono mai riusciti?
