Today I will give you a recipe for the type of spinach bread we make all the time in the village. This is a recipe that I love to eat since I was little. I also love spinach and potatoes in pastries. Today we chose to use spinach. It was a very tasty and enjoyable recipe.

By the way, this is a local recipe. It is constantly cooked in village houses in many cities. Content may vary slightly depending on the region. Some add milk to the dough, some add water. We prepare this recipe by adding water.

Spinach is the hardest vegetable to clean in my opinion. We always clean them with care because they are covered in mud. This can be a bit of a challenge, but we still have to make sure there are no residues left. Then let's chop them randomly. Spinach may seem too much to your eyes, do not be afraid. It goes out and decreases as it cooks, so it should not be chopped too small.

We cut the onions into small cubes. Then we roasted it a little with oil. You'll know it's cooked when its color starts to change. We added the spinach on it and added the spices according to our own taste. We roasted the spinach until it was cooked and it got its own juice. Then we let it cool.

While the spinach was cooling, we started to prepare the dough. We added half of the flour to a deep bowl. Then we added dry yeast to a little boiled water and melted it well.

We add yeast to the flour we have added to the deep bowl. Do not forget to add a pinch of sugar so that the yeast is active. Then add water and salt.

Now we can start kneading the dough. It is necessary to knead the dough for a while without getting tired of it. The more you knead, the better it will rise. Of course, force is required. She made the dough that yoghurt because my mother is much better at this than me.

After kneading the dough, we let it rest for a few hours. I used the dough holding bowl for this job. You can use anything with a lid. In addition, you need to wrap the dough well. When it stays airless and hot, a fluffy dough is obtained.

We come to my favorite part. We use a special stove for cooking the dough we make. Of course, you can also cook it on a pan at home, but everything cooked in wood fire seems much more delicious to me. We waited for the fire to ignite. Instead of this step, cook the dough on the stove without oil until both sides are fried, and then immediately apply butter on it as soon as you take it from the stove.

After that, the steps are a little less because now I had to go to the stove and if I wasn't quick, I could burn the dough on the stove. That's why I couldn't take too many details, but I will still tell you every detail.


We prepared the dough in apple-sized balls. Then, we enlarged the dough in a round shape with a rolling pin, respectively. You can decide the size for yourself. Ours were approximately between 25-30 cm. Then we added the filling material and folded the dough in a half moon shape and pressed it lightly so that it would not open from the edges.

On the one hand, while my mother rolled out the dough, I started to cook them on the stove. The heat was high because we put a lot of wood into the stove. I may have burned a little while shooting :) So I put the phone aside while I was cooking. I kept turning it upside down until both sides were cooked.

When the dough was cooked, I took it off the fire and immediately put butter on it. This will soften them. In order to apply it quickly, instead of a brush, I opened half the package and kept the oil and applied it practically. Other doughs could stay on the stove too much and burn until it is applied with a brush.

As a beverage, we usually prefer buttermilk or tea with wraps. Making ayran is very simple, we mix yoghurt and water well and add some salt into it. After whisking until foamy, pour it into glasses to which we add ice and serve. We prefer black tea.
