There is alot of SEO behind the scenes going on as well. Each post that is Tweeted and shared across the other social channels alerts Google to the value of the posts. The only other social platform that has ever done this is Youtube.

I believe Steemit ranks pretty high in googles algorythm so in essence if you follow standard google SEO boosting strategies in your posts you are very likely to get ranked in the top pages for a particular topic.

I realized this when I went to search something about STEEM and ended up googling one of my own articles.. Was pretty blown away that I was top of the list on google for a few keywords. :D

### 2.  Discovering Steemit content when doing a general search.
This is the Holy Grail for Steemit.
When I search for the word _recipie_ or more likely  _[recipie for mumbai cutting chai](https://steemit.com/food/@nigelmarkdias/how-to-make-your-own-mumbai-cutting-chai)_ does the Steemit post or link rank at or near the top of the SERP?

I do believe Steemit ranking in google is not that poor. Must say i was wondering last week what i can do to add some better SEO to my posts. Do you guys have any tricks for this? For my old wordpress websites i used to use SEO by Yoast. This is a handy tool but i believe it only works as a wordpress plugin. Any idea's anyone?

amazing thing is in general, steemit posts appear to rank on google and i dont know if the decentralization aspect has anything to do with it but steemit post are really ranking. and yes i now do my search on google for many search query with the word 'steemit' added to it. sometimes in my general search and sometimes before i post to know if a similar post as mine has already been posted on steemit. once when i wrote about @donkeypong, i found his profile on google as the first result on the list, likely because it is not a very large niche, one could say, but there is donkey pong and there is also the game called donkey kong, that will like lead non steemians to steemit. i found steemit and ended up signing up, in my regular google search and i think it was @stellabelle post that ranked and did the convincing. steemit posts are ranking and it is amazing. i would do a regular post on blogger or wordpress forever and it has hardly ranked. for things related to crypto many steemit posts from 6 months back are always coming up in search results. You have spoken correctly @stephenkendal, it is fun to add a steemit, to search!
