The first question one must honestly ask themselves is: which is greater, your beliefs or the truth?

1. The Belief System

Beliefs by their very nature are delusional, for if the thing believed had a foundation in facts, logic, and reason it would have risen to the level of knowledge. The believer starts out with a premise for a belief and then seeks to distort reality in a vain attempt to make it appear to conform to the belief. The true believer often will abandon the truth, ignore, interpret, twist, or lie about the facts, in an effort to support the belief while plunging headlong toward the delusional abyss of disappointment, despair, crises, even on up to and including insanity. Rare indeed is the belief which proves to be truth.

2. The Reality System

Facts, logic, and reason are never inconsistent with the truth, therefore they represent the surest route in the discovery thereof. The truth is immutable, and is a direct reflection of reality. The truth seeker fearlessly ventures wherever that journey may take him while accumulating knowledge which creates a foundation for the acquirement of wisdom.

Closing Remarks 

One can observe the fact that the sun comes up every morning, look at the astrophysics involved, and reason with some certainty that it will come up tomorrow morning. One can believe that Betty Boop from Alpha Centauri will land her spaceship on their front lawn and crown them king of the universe if they first go out and commit heinous crimes against humanity. Expressed in the latter example are the dangers of delusional beliefs, and their potential for creating great sorrow and suffering in the world.

So the choice is yours to make. Cling to beliefs, truth be damned, or seek the truth, beliefs be damned?
