Return of the Red Kites

These fantastic birds almost became extinct, but with the aid of conservation and dedicated feeding centres like the one I visit in Llanddeusant, situated in the beautiful foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park they have recovered and now are a familiar sight in the skies of Wales.

Hadn't been back with my Nikon, so over the Christmas break, I headed to the mountains in time for their daily feeding.

I took some 1,000 images, it takes a while to follow their pattens and with the snow capped mountains behind them it just makes for an outstanding image.

I'll post some more images once I have worked my way through editing some :)

very beautiful bird friend, this we must preserve in order not to extinct friend. we see so many animals now almost extinct and difficult to find again. let us try to preserve animals to avoid extinction of their habitat. thank you guys, this is very fun for me.

That top image is awsome. I think I went to this feeding station about 5 years ago. It was amazing, there must have been over a hundred kites there and a dozen of so buzzards. Unfortunately our kite population here in Norfolk is pretty small, I see one every few months though.

That would be great. I got the impression there was only about 30 birds here in Norfolk from an introduced population. We do get the occasional migrants passing through on the coast as well.
