We all know that video is becoming all the rage. As storage and hosting costs continue to fall, the rise of video gathers more and more momentum.

I am fascinated with video, in the sense that I have always defaulted to reading in preference to videos in the past, but now I am finding myself drawn to watching videos if I'm ever given the choice. There is just something compelling about watching a video to understand a message or form of communication. And I must confess, I have long wondered what the attraction is?

There is research to show that you can get far more across in your message by using video compared to audio. The movement and expressions of your face provide cues and messages that can get lost in the audio alone. They call it the **McGurk Effect.** 

This study shows the importance of vision to auditory perception and can be observed by watching the above video.
