##### # Does **everything** really matter? #### I would suggest to you that yes, it does. We are habitual creatures we humans, there's no denying that truism. Anyone who has ever considered the fundamental question of why we do the things we do, why we make the mistakes we make, why we spend periods being angry at ourselves has uncovered this to some degree or another. #### Whether it is something as seemingly innocuous as having one more cookie than we know we should, not making the bed in the morning or letting a negative, nihilistic news story in to our head or choosing not to study. These things all have a cumulative effect on our life. #### We have a whole raft of repeated actions and behaviours that we engage in, almost every second of the day and they have a huge effect on everything we are and everything we become. Apathy, happiness, depression, success and anxiety are all deeply routed in these activities and thought processes we repeat on an ongoing basis almost unbeknownst to us. #### *Wait a second, what? How the heck can they be unknown to us. I **know** what I am doing constantly, I'm not stumbling around like a zombie.* #### ## Are you quite sure about that Dear Reader? #### Let me explain in a slightly different way. Everything we do is borne from a need that we wish to fulfill in each waking second of our day. For the most-part we understand this. Your stomach rumbles, you go find food. You feel bored, you choose a movie, play a video game or go for a walk. This an't rocket science, right? There are however a far more surreptitious set of forces at play permanently in your life that affect everything you do. #### Some of them work for you, some work against your stated goals. Why though? Those goals stretch beyond the realms of hunger and boredom, some are related to where we see our position in the world, in the family, in the community and almost any other hierarchical structure that exists. #### These are more related to where we expect to be and what we expect to do and who we desire to become in the world at large. Such parameters though can be damaging and restrictive to us. If you believe at a sub conscious level that you are working class and that as such you will never earn more than 30k you can be damn sure the mechanisms in the mind will ensure that reality is preserved. Take that exact example, if you should start getting closer to somebody ready to break through to the upper echelons of the 100k+ club, your unconscious behaviours can start to act in a way that stops this from happening. #### Maybe you start drinking more, maybe you start slacking a little in the workplace, maybe you just become a little less attentive to your work. This can be the direct result of your subconscious determining that a dangerous uncharted situation s close at hand and you must be protected from falling flat on your face in a new environment where it deems you do not belong. #### This could be the equivalent of your subconscious telling you that you are heading in to the great unknown and there may be uncomfortable situations at hand, far better to stay where you are, it's safe, it's cosy, it's easy. it's **known.** It could however be the subconscious telling you that you are a 30k per year person, right? You've spent a lot of time giving it that message and reinforcing it. It's not surprising that the software in the programme that's running is not equipped for this canyon of unknown, scary possibilities. #### You have an internal set of values that define who you are, your status in the world and to some degree what you will achieve in the world thus dictating the meaning you achieve in life. In the same way that a computer cannot work with two conflictory programmes, neither can you, one will always be cancelled out to maintain the trajectory which you are on. #### If you do not wish to fall prey to this damaging and seriously self-limiting process you must be constantly aware of the information you are feeding in to the system. Take time to consider the areas in life in which you would like to embark on expansion, write them down, this has an incredible effect on the subconscious. By opening up these areas to new possibility, broader horizons this can become an accepted part of who you are, this way those opportunities that present themselves at certain points in life become something of which you are capable instead of being shutdown as incongruent with you. #### ## Who knows where this kind of conscious, self aware programming can lead? #### ## Maybe, just maybe you owe it to yourself to find out... ## Thank **YOU** for taking the time to read my post and if you're one of those amazing people who like to hit the comments section... Then I *doubly* thank **YOU!** #### Either way I want you to know that you are appreciated! #### Keep taking the time to connect with each-other both here and in the *so-called* real world and try and look after each-other, because as you already know... ## #### I am a proud member of the newly formed #TeamUK I love the global community immensely, but it is nice to have a home-team banner to add to my posts. The banner was made by the inimitable RoastMaster General himself @c0ff33a If you are an active UK member and would like to be added to the teamUK community on Discord, just let me know π

I struggle with my programming from the past and have to actively search and maintain changes. The worst thing is that while I might catch some, there are plenty of defaults that play on in the background outside of my awareness. Catching one might feel good, but it is impossible to know how many slip by unnoticed.
