I've recently started getting into crafting instruments on [RisingStar](https://www.risingstargame.com). It all started out with my drummer **Stomper** nagging the rest of our crew to get him some decent drums. Or any drums for that matter! Okay, he did have his favorite sets in mind, either the **E14 High End Drum Kit** or the  **E25 Pro Kit**, both epic cards, both out of mint, and thus highly expensive. But being the ambitious musician that he is, **Stomper** would eventually need his two bass drums, which none of the other sets have. Unless... we assemble a custom made one! Now that seemed like something to try.

## The Crafting Process

So heeding **Stomper's** wish, we headed over to the **Custom Shop** and started a **Drum Fair** mission. Unlike typical missions, such as the **Demo Recording** or the **Acoustic Tent**, which we've been playing these last weeks, at the **Custom Shop** you don't earn any STARBITS. On the contrary, it costs 1000 to participate, and you have the chance to receive one of ten possible instrument parts. Depending on their quality (there's gold and silver and lots of bling!) you can mint a kit with more or less **luck**, which you can sell for more or less STARBITS. And sell we must, because none of the custom drums had the double-bass **Stomper** insisted on.

## Is It Worth It?

Well, that all depends! Obviously, there is a great deal of chance involved. In our first attempt it took us 13 **Drum Fair Missions** before we even had a drum body, rims, stands, and cymbals to be able to craft one complete kit: the **D2313** - a green drum body, gold rims, chrome stands and silver cymbals, if I remember correctly. What I do remember, though, is that it had 62 luck, and we managed to sell it for 25,000 STARBITS within a couple of days!

The rest is pretty straight forward: With an additional 4,000 STARBITS we purchased the **E25 Pro Kit** for 29,000. **Stomper** couldn't be happier. Sure, it cost us 13,000 but not only did we get more than twice that much out of it, there are also a bunch of drum parts floating around that we can use to build more drums out of! So it was a full on success, especially compared to the random cards that were in the last pack I bought: a manager nobody likes, a guitarist nobody needs, a dancer we already have? (Though I tend to be with **Teddy** on this: **Avril** is a keeper, even if she appears twice!)

## Next Crafting Goal

Since **Stomper** had such a positive experience acquiring his professional drum kit, **Teddy** has also expressed his wish regarding his favorite guitar: the **E36 Cherry Acoustic**. Of course, a great guitarist should have the best guitar, and I can see **Teddy** cherry picking it, giving our developing band a superb sound. So we decided to have another crafting session. And sure, we could have started acquiring guitar parts, but instead went for more drum pieces, to combine with what we already had. To make it even more interesting, I waited until I had 10,000 STARBITS and 100% energy, and then went to town. Less than an hour later we had two drum kits ready to sell.

**Silver Cymbals** I'd already had more than enough of, but they still kept coming. Same can be said about the **Chrome Stands**, though last time this was the item I needed to complete the set. Fortunately there were also some **Black Rims** and **Chrome Rims** in the mix, so I can craft not one but two sets: the **D2323** and the **D2333** (albeit with only 19 and 16 luck each). So let's see how much I can sell them for! Keeping my listing just below my competition, I'm offering the former for 4,800 STARBITS, and the latter for 9,500 (even though it has less luck). But this is of course bound to change, as prices tend to adjust themselves... or not. Let's see!

Having used up all my STARBITS, it's back to playing at the **Acoustic Tent of the Local Festival**. And this time I think I'm going to risk another chance at buying a pack for the next 10,000 STARBITS. I think I will have to sell a couple of my instruments (and people) to get my hands on that cherry guitar!
