Today's coin reveal post features the 1oz .999 Silver 2005 Australian Kookaburra Proof Coin struck by the Perth Mint.

# 1. Coin Story
A few days ago I wrote about the 1/2oz version of the 2005 Australian Kookaburra Proof coin. This coin has the exact same design as the 1/2oz version with the key point of difference being that the 1oz coin is a round coin, whereas the 1/2oz version was a square coin.

Both coins feature the hologram background which was unique for this year and has not be used on a Kookaburra coin by the Perth Mint since then.

In the previous post I shared about how I came across these two coins and the negotiating process I went through with seller in securing the deal. It was a very exciting day picking up both of these coins in the one transaction.

# 2. Coin Packaging
These coins are packaged in individual sealed plastic capsules. Each coin is protected by the orange clam shell case. On the outside of the clam case is the Australian Coat of Arms in silver text with the words "THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA PROOF ISSUE 1oz COIN".

Unfortunately the orange clam shell case has seen some wear over the years and have some scuffing on the side and the top. The Certificate of Authenticity was also missing from this proof coin, again this is not ideal for resale, but as this will form part of my personal collection it is not major issue.

# 3. Coin Details
## a. Mintage
The mintage of this coin was 30,000 coins. Each of the coins were issued as legal tender under the authority of the Australian Government with the denomination of $1 (Australian).

## b. Purity
The purity of the coin is .999 fine silver.

# 4. Coin Design
## a. Reverse Design
The reverse of the coin depicts two kookaburras perched on a eucalyptus branch. The kookaburras appear be laughing with that distinct kookaburra noise that is so symbolic of life in Australia.

The design includes an inscription 'THE AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA', the coin weight '1 OZ', the coin purity '999 SILVER' and the year of issue '2005'.

## b. Obverse Design
The obverse of the coin portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The design also includes the inscriptions 'ELIZABETH II', country of origin 'AUSTRALIA' and the denomination '1 DOLLAR' (Australian).
