Introduction

<p>My name is Strontvlieg, although in real-life I carry the name Mark. Currently 32 years old and living in The Netherlands, I've decided to take the first steps on Steemit.com.</p>

<p><strong>Character:</strong></p>
<p>I don't take life too seriously. A career with a huge monthly income and a high social status isn't very interesting to me. Instead, I aim to keep the costs of living limited so a full-time employment isn't necessary to make ends meet. Health has a high priority for me personally; I've been fat and lazy in my 20's, but have gradually picked up physical excercise to shape up a bit. It is a known fact work can seriously mess up your (mental) health, so I'll make sure this doesn't happen in my case. I consider myself on the political right, but I'm a tree-hugger at the same time. Odd, isn't it ... ?</p>

<p><strong>Interests:</strong></p>
<p>Traveling, more specifically with my own car. Living in Western Europe, I can reach a broad spectrum of interesting destinations by car in a reasonable amount of time; the Alps, Berlin, Prague, Slovenia and Stockholm to name a few. Also, the world of crypocurrencies is also one of my interests (one of the reasons I've signed up on this site). I'll elaborate on this in a moment. Modding in the Source Engine is also something I like to do. More specifically I'm fabricating custom maps for Half-Life 2, although I'm not very good at it yet.</p>

<p><strong>View on cryptocurrencies:</strong></p>
<p>I gotta admit I was a non-believer up to 2016. When I first heard about Bitcoin (2011) , I thought it was some odd curiosity on the WWW that would die out pretty soon. That view changed during the major price surges of 2013; I took it more seriously, but still thought it would end like the dotcom bubble between 1997 and 2000. I did have some fun on exchanges and even made a few bucks with some altcoins like Dogecoin. It wasn't until 2016 when I realised cryptocurrencies are here to stay and invested $90 just as an experiment. This year, the initial investment exploded with roughly 2000%.</p>
<p><br></p>
<p>The profits are a nice thing ofcourse, but the most important is that the current world of cryptocurrencies might be the dawn of a major revolution in the life of humanity, especially regarding the financial world. People who are just now diving into cryptocurrencies might still be regarded as early adopters. Looking back at the growth of crypto between 2009 and 2017, it might dominate the world in just 5 to 10 years. Just think about the position of internet and mobile phones in the 1990's and nowadays ... !</p>
