¡Hola a todos! El mes pasado llevé a mi gato Ikki a que lo vacunaran contra la rabia. Respondió de buena manera (el veterinario dijo que estuviera pendiente por si acaso le provocaba alguna reacción), así que luego de ponerle empeño a mis publicaciones de Hive, reuní el dinero y hoy fuimos a la siguiente consulta.

> Hi all! Last month I took my cat Ikki for a rabies vaccination. He responded in a good way (the vet said to be on the lookout just in case it provoked a reaction), so after putting some effort into my Hive posts, I gathered the money and today we went to the next consultation.

Siguiendo la misma secuencia del mes pasado, primero fui a comprar la vacuna el miércoles. Esta vez le tocaba la triple felina. Por suerte continuaba al mismo precio que me habían dado el mes pasado así que por ese lado no hubo problema, quería comprarle a Ikki un comedero muy lindo que había visto el mes pasado, pero lamentablemente ya no habían. Compré la vacuna y me fui a casa. Por suerte el sol no estaba tan fuerte y no estaba nerviosa de llevar la vacuna (la vez pasada estaba realmente aterrada mientras transportaba la antirrábica), le pedimos el favor a un vecino de que nos la guardara en la nevera y llamé al veterinario para agendar la cita para el día de hoy.

> Following the same sequence as last month, I first went to buy the vaccine on Wednesday. This time it was the triple feline. Luckily it was still at the same price they had given me last month so there was no problem on that side, I wanted to buy Ikki a very nice feeder that I had seen last month, but unfortunately there were no more. I bought the vaccine and went home. Luckily the sun was not so strong and I was not nervous about taking the vaccine (last time I was really terrified while carrying the rabies), we asked a neighbor to keep it in the fridge for us and I called the vet to schedule the appointment for today.

Esta mañana Ikki estaba realmente nervioso. No lo dejé salir del cuarto para evitar que se fuera al jardín. Pero en todo momento estaba pendiente de la puerta, pues habitualmente lo dejo salir a tomar el sol en las mañanas. No dejaba de chillar, pidiendo que lo dejara salir. Tras ponerle el arnés creo que sospechó que algo  estaba pasando porque se calmó un poco.

> This morning Ikki was really nervous. I did not let him leave the room to prevent him from going to the garden. But at all times he was watching the door, because usually I let him go out to sunbathe in the mornings. He kept screaming, asking to be let out. After putting the harness on, I think he suspected something was happening because he calmed down a bit.

Llamé a mi acompañante y le dije que lo mejor era salir cuanto antes, pues Ikki ya estaba sospechando. Cuando lo acerqué al transportador, ya Ikki sabía lo que estaba pasando. Con algo de dificultad lo metí y salimos en dirección a la veterinaria. Al llegar nos sorprendimos al ver que el sitio estaba un poco lleno.  Uno de los doctores nos hizo pasar a esperar adentro del consultorio.

> I called my companion and told him that it was best to leave as soon as possible, since Ikki was already suspicious. When I approached the transporter, Ikki already knew what was going on. With some difficulty I put it in and we left in the direction of the vet. Upon arrival we were surprised to see that the place was a bit crowded. One of the doctors made us wait inside the office.

Estaban atendiendo a un perrito pequeño ciego el cual le habían salido gusanos en uno de sus ojos, le colocaron un antibiótico y algo para su ojo. Luego vino uno de los doctores y me pidió la vacuna para inyectar a Ikki. Cabe mencionar que esta vez me costó sacarlo más que la vez pasada del transportador, realmente estaba aterrado por la cantidad de gente que estaba en el lugar. Ikki es muy miedoso con las personas.

> They were taking care of a small blind puppy who had worms in one of his eyes, they put an antibiotic and something for his eye. Then one of the doctors came and asked me for the vaccine to inject Ikki. It is worth mentioning that this time it was more difficult for me to get it out of the transporter than last time, I was really terrified by the number of people that were in the place. Ikki is very fearful of people.

Sorprendentemente Ikki no se quejó ni hizo ningún ruido cuando lo inyectaron, al parecer estaba tan enfrascado en las demás personas que esperaban afuera, que ni cuenta se dio. Luego, intentó con desespero volver a entrar al transportador, dándole a la puerta con la patita, eso me pareció muy tierno. Pero no lo dejé entrar porque sabía que sería difícil sacarlo de nuevo.

> Surprisingly, Ikki didn't complain or make any noise when he was injected, apparently he was so engrossed in the other people waiting outside that he didn't even notice. Then, he desperately tried to re-enter the transporter, hitting the door with his paw, that seemed very cute to me. But I didn't let him in because I knew it would be difficult to get him out again.

Como no lo dejé entrar, Ikki se acurrucó a mi lado, como buscando que lo protegiera, eso me pareció muy lindo, ya que él suele ser bastante independiente y no me busca de ese modo en casa. Pero en ese momento, sabía que yo lo iba a cuidar. Así que lo estuve acariciando mientras se desocupaba un poco el doctor que sabía más sobre el tema de la criptorquidia. Había llegado otro paciente, un perro muy grande con otro problema ocular.

But at that moment, he knew that I was going to take care of him. So I stroked him while the doctor who knew the most on the subject of cryptorchidism relaxed a bit. Another patient had arrived, a very large dog with another eye problem.

Ya luego los doctores se desocuparon y procedieron a hacerle la palpación a Ikki. El más experimentado me comunicó que en efecto, los testículos no se percibían por ningún lado y que, era posible que estuvieran aún pequeños en el interior. También que en ese estado no era posible una castración habitual, ya que en su estado es completamente estéril. Dice que si permanece así no le acarrearía ningún problema, pero ante mi evidente preocupación, me explicó que podían hacerle una operación más interna, como en el caso de las hembras, para sacar lo que hubiera de los testículos, pero para ello primero había que hacerle un eco para ver en donde se encontraban. Dijo que no era necesario, pero que existía esa opción.

> Then the doctors left their occupation and proceeded to palpate Ikki. The most experienced one told me that indeed, the testicles were not perceived anywhere and that it was possible that they were still small on the inside. Also that in that state a habitual castration was not possible, since in his state he is completely sterile. He says that if he remains like this it would not cause him any problem, but in view of my obvious concern, he explained that they could perform a more internal operation, as in the case of females, to remove whatever there was from the testicles, but to do this you had to first echo it to see where they were. He said it wasn't necessary, but there was that option.

Antes de que volviera a su transportador, le recortaron las garritas y lo volvieron a pesar. Subió unos 500 gramos, así que ahora pesa 5.5 kilos. En cuanto abrí al puerta, Ikki se apresuró a entrar al trasportador y nos retiramos del consultorio, pues los veterinarios tenían a dos gatos que iban a ser esterilizados, una gata y un gato, respectivamente. Me sentí un poco celosa, porque yo quería esterilizar a Ikki y por su condición, las cosas no eran tan fáciles.

> Before he got back to his transporter, they cut out his little sticks and weighed him again. He gained about 500 grams, so now he weighs 5.5 kilos. As soon as I opened the door, Ikki rushed into the transporter and we left the office, as the vets had two cats to be spayed, a cat and a cat, respectively. I felt a bit jealous, because I wanted to sterilize Ikki and because of his condition, things were not so easy.

Con esto, oficialmente Ikki es un gato vacunado con la antirrábica, la triple felina y está desparasitado. Tenemos sus papeles en regla ¡¡Gracias Hive!! Gracias a ésta maravillosa plataforma esto fue posible 🥳🥳🥳

Como tengo la orden médica para mandar a hacer el eco, lo siguiente es averiguar el precio del mismo y luego llevarlo a que se lo realicen. Admito que me da algo de miedo pensar en someter a Ikki a una operación de ese tipo, sobre todo en la etapa de recuperación, cuando hay que estar más pendiente con los puntos y eso. Trato de pensar en eso pero para bien, necesito prepararme para todo lo que vaya a necesitar para que esa experiencia sea lo menos traumática para Ikki. Hasta que eso pase, tengo pensado investigar en grupos para gatos y hablar con otros dueños con gatos con ésta condición y cómo actuaron.

> As I have the medical order to send the echo, the next thing is to find out the price of it and then take it to have it done. I admit that I am a little scared to think about putting Ikki through such an operation, especially in the recovery stage, when you have to be more aware of the stitches and stuff. I try to think about that but for the better, I need to prepare myself for everything I will need to make that experience the least traumatic for Ikki. Until that happens, I plan to research groups for cats and talk to other owners with cats with this condition and how they acted.
