There's a high chance anything you've ever thought, someone somewhere at some time has already thought the same. No wonder "history repeats itself" can be seen manifesting itself in almost if not  every aspect of life.
With over 20 billion(maybe) people that have lived on this Earth it's quite easy to become skeptical of one's originality. I believe humans are all very similar and mostly go through the same phases of  "maturing". They'll face the same problems and end up thinking like so many have already thought before. That's why we see same thoughts appearing in literature or any other medium worlds apart. <b>- Originality is for the arrogant.</b>

Over time certain ideas reemerge, take up new forms, transform and are treated as new again.<b> - Originality is like history with amnesia.</b><br>
Learning on your own is as original your thoughts can get. Most of what animals do is learning through mimicking their parents and others around.<b> - Originality is for the independent.</b><br>
Most of our entertainment is based on copying other. Putting a twist on familiar things. Retelling of the same old stories. Playing the same old tunes. It can be unintentional or intended. With the latter it's important for the crowd to be oblivious about the original.<b> - Originality is for the oblivious and the deceitful.</b><br>
Given all of the above some people are still able to come up with new solutions and theories. Mostly in very specific fields which are built on the original thoughts of those who came before. <b> - Originality is building upon previous knowledge.</b><br>
