2018 빅베어 관측 일지
안녕하세요.

한 해가 끝나가는 지금, 올 한 해 빅베어 천문대에서 태양을 관측한 날짜 로그를 한 번 살펴보았습니다.

위 그림에서 파란색으로 표시된 부분이 관측 데이타가 기록된 날이고, 회색은 관측을 시도했으나 데이터를 얻을 수 없었던 날입니다. 올해까지 137일의 관측 데이터가 기록되었네요. 

잘 보시면 아시겠지만 대부분의 관측일자가 4월에서 9월에 집중되어 있습니다. 겨울은 기상조건이 안 좋기도 하거니와 여러가지 망원경 보수작업이 일어나는 때이기도 합니다. 그리고 여름에는 주말에도 당연히 관측을 합니다. 태양은 쉬지 않으니까요. ㅎ


그나저나 이젠 태양에 흑점 하나 없는 날이 점점 많아지고 있습니다. 우주 환경의 관점에서는 좋은 일이지만 뭔가 재미난 것을 찾고 싶은 과학자들에게는 좀 심심한 시간이 되겠습니다.

태양에 흑점이 많으면 폭발의 빈도가 높아져서 지구의 통신과 전기 시스템에 장애를 일으킬 수 있습니다. 물론 드문 현상이기는 하지요.
