<h2>Does History Really Repeat Itself?</h2>

When I say that history repeats itself, I do not mean that things happened exactly the way they did in the past without any slight difference. There are few examples for that though.

What I’m talking about is patterns. When we want to understand some things, we look for patterns most of the time. We are able to predict the weather today or tomorrow due to patterns. When something happens today, we ask questions like “Has it happened before? How was the situation handled?”

History, as well as stories give us insight into how change came about. The past usually has an effect on the present, hence, to have a better future, we look to the past. This is one of the basic reasons why we study history – To answer life’s questions.

<h2>Why History Repeats Itself:</h2>

On the basis that we study history to learn from the past, It becomes obvious that the reason why history repeats itself is that, people do not learn from mistakes.

We are not learning from the mistakes of others. One would think that it is common sense to learn from the mistakes of others, that we do not have to wait for something to happen to us, before we learn from it. But when we look at how often things happen, which is no longer news, it makes me wonder.

For example, Ponzi schemes. Ponzi schemes are not new in human history, they have always been there. Right from the time of money doubling, where they usually double the victim's money the first time, which moves him to go and look for more the second time, even borrowing just to make huge money only to find out that the money doublers have disappeared. We’ve seen a lot of Ponzi schemes that have come and gone, more are still coming. Now the problem we’re having is sifting out scam coins ICO from good coins. The surprising thing is that people are still falling victims till tomorrow. I mean, apart from **Steemit**, Nobody will bath and leave his house to try to help you earn money if there’s nothing in it for them.

Many people have gotten beaten, killed, raped, defrauded and sick or even gotten involved in accidents because of not learning from others mistakes. Some accidents happen now because someone was texting while driving.

<h2>Experience Is NOT The Best Teacher</h2>

I doubt anyone would like to have a teacher who does not even give time or a chance to apply the lessons he has been taught. That is how experience is, most times after teaching it’s lessons, a lot of things would have been lost. Be it time, money or even a life.

As much as experiencing a situation ourselves makes the lessons remain indelible on our minds, The only time experience is a good teacher is if it’s not our experience. Meanwhile, it is inhumane for someone to suffer something and not want to warn others so that people suffer the same thing.

These are just my thoughts and is open to scrutiny and correction. We have two choices, Either we learn from history Or we repeat it.
