Eran ya pasadas las 11 de la noche, Asdrúbal un hombre de mediana edad a quien el sobrepeso le está ganando la batalla, producto de la gran cantidad de horas que dura sentado detrás del volante de su autobús Blue Bird, toma la entrada en dirección a la autopista norte con la finalidad de ir hacia la ruta más directa que lo lleve al centro petrolero donde debe recoger a primeras horas de la mañana, al personal que instaló una gigantesca válvula de control en un gasoducto, necesaria para contener la presión en uno de los yacimientos que la empresa recién comenzó a taladrar.

La viabilidad de esa zona a esta avanzada hora luce particularmente desolada, solo la brisa caliente que golpea su rostro es su compañera para evitar dormirse, en el largo trayecto de tiempo que le espera hasta su destino. Una vieja canción en la radio comienza a darle ánimos al ambiente, mientras el sudor corre por su frente agobiándolo por completo, sabiendo que es incapaz de respirar correctamente, después del diagnóstico aterrador que certificó la debilidad en su corazón, así como la obstrucción de grasa en varias de sus arterias. Pocos minutos después las luces se vuelven más cercanas de manera violenta, ahora parecen que van velozmente en dirección a él, casi como si fueran a estrellarse, lo que hace que el conductor frene de inmediato a toda potencia para evitar la colisión con los vehículos que aparentemente vienen de frente, pero al asomar la cabeza por la ventana, puede darse cuenta de que lo que está viendo no es de este mundo, tampoco son camiones de bomberos, realmente es una pequeña nave de forma triangular que viene en su rumbo y que le pasa por encima a muchísima velocidad en vuelo rasante.

Al entrar a la tienda tomó un poco de agua, con palabras entrecortadas intentó contarle al dependiente lo ocurrido en la autopista con las luces, a lo que el hombre le sugirió calmarse, sentarse y respirar profundo, poniendo una mano en su hombro. Luego lo miró fijamente con un rostro muy serio, como si fuera a darle la noticia más importante de su vida, pero solo soltó una carcajada y le dijo:
— Amigo lo que usted vio no son extraterrestres, son los drones de prueba de la base de la fuerza aérea.
