Abstract photos using very shallow depth of field

I like abstract art and I like bokeh, so I decided to combine them. I put an extension tube to a 500 mm mirror lens and these are the results. Some people don't like ring bokeh, and I agree that it doesn't work well with some subjects but here it makes the photos mysterious.

Next is an abstract photo taken using Takumar 50 mm f/1.4 but reversed. Can you guess what is the subject in this photo? I boosted the colours a bit but otherwise, the photo is nearly untouched. The depth of field ended up really shallow and it made this interesting abstract picture.

Very interesting and creative photography. I have no idea what the subject is. My guess would be a frozen edge of a leaf... but i know that's wrong. hahaha Keep up the great work!

In the first photos it is very difficult to guess, while in the third photo it looks like part of a Sharowski necklace, haha, maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like litmus-colored stones to me. I like abstract photography, not everyone knows how to find art in things that seem simple, that is true art. Greetings.

RE: Abstract photos using very shallow depth of field

I actually own two - the 500mm f/8 and the 1100mm f/10.5. Due to its weight, I’ve only used the bigger one when aiming at the sun. It’s smaller brother is heavy but still okay to carry in the backpack all day. I’ll write a post about them, thanks for the suggestion!

uh.. Personally, I restrict myself / my arsenal --  to carry at once only 150mm or 70-200mm telephoto  (with +1 extra lens, 50mm or smth wide-angled), even that is being a bit hard task for me, not "mission impossible", but putting on some restrictions  on me and my backpack.  anyway, wish you well, and looking forward to more posts from you. 👍

Thanks! No, it’s not a leaf. It’s a labradorite crystal, about 2x2x4 cm big. It’s on all of the photos. It’s a question that is nearly impossible to guess 😄
