<div class="text-justify"> I was in the bathroom at work today and saw this emergency/ help button. While it is a bright, red button in what is otherwise white setting, the icon doesn't really scream what it is for. If anything, it just looks like if you press it, a menacing robot that has the destruction of humanity in its program, is coming to get you while on the toilet. > Not a good way to go. > But interesting. While we have a lot going on, tomorrow I scheduled a review for my 2023 Q4 bonuses. After the last couple weeks, I could really do with getting the full bonus to replenish the tiny buffer we had. The heating company's insurance is apparently going to be dragging its feet on paying us for what we have covered so far. That is par for the course. Though, it isn't really going to help, as I won't get the bonus paid until February anyway. >Perhaps I should have pressed the red button. *It isn't that dire.* Plus, I get paid at the end of the week and will be able to cover the bills then, albeit that some of them will be a little lat. Or a lot. I don't like this situation, because it reminds me of so many other times in my life where it was far more stressful., with one income, employment instability, and obligations to meet. But, I do think that those times taught me some lessons that I will carry for life, for better or worse. >Not all lessons are good. Some of the negatives lessons we learn as children stay with us, and we spend the rest of our lives either trying to shake them, or being damaged by them. Often, we spend a lot of our time and energy trying to overcome what perhaps we should never have learned in the first place. One of these for me is a scarcity mindset, which I have carried around for as long as I can remember, and while I can *repress it,* it is always lurking in the background. Any time I am a little bit short of money, it rears its ugly head to remind me that I might never see another dollar again. > Emotions are irrational. Emotions are not meant to guide us in my opinion, they are designed to grab our attention, and spend it more wisely. They are a warning and reminder to snap out of whatever daydream we might be having, and become present. Fear might be a signal of potential danger, pleasure says to enjoy what is at hand. I think we get the order of feelings confused, where we have been told to do things so we feel something, when it is the opposite, >Feel things so we do something. If life is all about feelings, and a good life is one where we feel good, we can create a good life artificially with drugs, or perhaps some kind of electrical brain stimulation. We needn't move, we needn't act. All we need do, *is feel.* >Dystopic. *Is it a good way to go?* We seem to be heading in that direction, where we are acting less, but feeling more. We are quick to emotional rise, even if we aren't doing anything, just observing the movement of life as it passes us by through our various feeds. It is strange isn't it, that while we watch a movie and with suspended disbelief, we scroll though engineered feeds, as if they are real. Just look at how people are duped into sending money to 3D models. >Whacking off to something that doesn't even exist. *We live in a strange and sad world.* > As long as it feels good, right? I wonder if there will come a time in our lives where we wake up from this dream world we have created, realize we are lost, and press the button in the hope someone will find us. I think that there is potential for some to become aware, but I reckon the majority of us will live out our days in a fog of disreality, believing that we are living a good life, because it feels like it. > Looks are deceiving. *Feelings more so.* Taraz [ Gen1: Hive ] </div>

I don't remember you mentioning, but it does resonate. I have a few friends whose digital feed gives a very different impression than their physical reality. It must be hard at times to look in the mirror.

You would think right, but then they keep posting, so they must be fine living with themselves. I have one friend and the thought of his kids reading some of his posts one day gives me chills.

> Emotions are not meant to guide us in my opinion, they are designed to grab our attention, and spend it more wisely. I feel when logic fails then emotions keep us grounded. 99 percent you have to follow the logic but there are circumstances where using logic backfires and you can't ground yourself. That's when the emotions come in. For example while dealing with kids you use logic, kids would hate you growing up. So balancing that is another thing too.

I agree with you. However, it is also possible to train emotional strength, so when logic fails, the emotions trigger helpful behaviors.

The perception of reality is tricky, and you can always switch to a different perception if you know how. I usually need to do it in the opposite way, to breathe rapidly and change my mindset in order to push myself, as I am quite chill by my nature.

Well that was a lot to digest in a few words. You are right tho, too many are just numbingly thru life but it feels good at the moment so why look passed it. People are happier with a comfortable lie than the inconvenient truth. going round and round over again like groundhog day and nothing seems to change. The brains being just as AI as the content consumed. Reminds me of the south Park episode of when they were overtaken by add and couldn't figure out was an AI add diguised as content or made by a real person. Even when you feel like a fish swimming up stream, keep swimming, you are part of the solution. Feeling, observing choosing to to something about it for yourself.

Feelings and emotions can be good and bad, depending on how one uses it. Letting fear cloud one's judgement can be detrimental to progress. But fear can also save one's life. When some things or contraptions look dangerous, sometimes listening to fear is a good thing. In sports, a lot of successful athletes use anger and feeling of being slighted/losing as fuel to train and get better. Like a lot of things, it is how you use it that matters.

Yeh I only kind of got that might be an emergency button because it was red, I think I'm too dumb to understand icons XD Maybe the majority will though I "feel" (in the skin prickly energy sensation way that I feel not in the stunted emotional way that I feel) that there's enough of a shift that the majority you're foreseeing will if they remain a majority will only be a very slight majority. And with you having said that the other thing I'm wondering is if some of the people who act in that manner are doubling down/sunk cost and don't want to "wake up" for egotistical reasons ("waking up" would mean they were wrong about a lot of things and being wrong is something to be absolutely avoided at any and all cost no matter what).

The "being wrong" aspect is for sure holding people from waking up. It is similar to those who can't have their religion questioned, because it might introduce doubts into their belief. I think there are many gaps forming in society, wealth, health, skill, mental, emotional.

Whether the feelings are valid and worth acting upon, that is the question.

Very true. Sometimes, I give in to feelings, into sensations and don't analyze things further-on. I think is a reminiscence of childhood. I want to be more analytical, more mature, to not put in so much pathos in situations that I perceive as limiting and conflictual, mostly inside of me. Thank you for all these reminders!
