The other day, one of my colleagues who holds a chunk of crypto now, was talking about the climbing inflation rate in the US and the expected interest rate hikes to come, suspecting that this will have a negative impact on the price of BTC and crypto in general - which is likely. He then was hoping that before it happens, there will be a significant rise in crypto price, so that "we" can exit.

Sure, it might be useful to sell a bit at some highs to buy back and I might kick myself later for not doing this, but there are other things to consider I feel, because times they are a changing. While it is always interesting in crypto, the more publicity it gets and the more the traditional economy fails, the greater the participation rate in crypto itself becomes.

This is *very important* in regards to price as when people buy, they are unlikely to sell at a loss. What that means is that as price falls, scarcity increases in the marketplace, which means it both takes less investment to get in and that investment capital has less token volume to buy, creating a high demand scenario, which will see prices move quickly. I feel "sorry" for those who are going to be selling the bottoms expecting it to fall to earlier low levels, because at least in my head and unless something dramatic happens, the floor price is *Far higher* than it was. 

But, that scarcity is already making an impact in the marketplaces, where for example, the recent drop went to 39K, 33% above where it was at the previous drop to 29K. What is likely happening is that when it dropped to 29, a lot of people extended their stacks and many got in for the first time, but, they aren't ready to *only* make a 30% gain on their new token holds, especially since it wasn't so long ago that the ATH was $67,000 - they want +100% *at least.* But, even at that level, people are looking for a *new ATH,* and with many large holders expecting to see +100K numbers out of Bitcoin and with the changes to Eth, they are likely going to have firmer hands for some time to come. 

Firm hands holding greater amounts of tokens and new hands looking for larger gains, with fewer people taking the "all in, all out" approach, means that when prices fall, more ends up in the "holding pattern" for the future, taking market availability away, increasing scarcity and requiring less input to drive the value up. 

This means that these last few months have been a great time for collection, and I suspect that many of the institutions that will start offering crypto services to their customers have been doing just that, because once they start introducing it to their customer base at scale, they are going to be looking to transfer their own holdings across to their customers at a very high premium. 

With more people participating and I expect a rapidly increasing number coming in as they get disillusioned and discover the truth about the economy they thought they knew, the amount of "half in" crypto users increases, each taking tiny slices out of the available supply. For many of these people, the gains they get are not going to be life changing due to the price they are buying at, but it can still be significant and as prices increase and hype drives them upward on the back of low token availability, they will look to hold more and as it drops again, they will end up selling less. 

This means that the largest holders and those who are making *insane* gains on their purchases, start to divest their holdings, spreading the token distribution wider into hands that are increasingly becoming holders of crypto, speculating on a *much higher* future price. And, that future price is highly likely, because of the dynamics in play, where many people have the belief in that future, so aren't willing to sell for anything less than having their expectations met.

I am definitely one of the people who have "expectations" about the future of crypto and what I have found is that most people who come in and actually start learning about the industry potential, start to do the same. Expectations doesn't mean a sure thing, but when many people hold the same narrative, the driving consumer force tends to make it a reality, in a "life imitating art" kind of process.

This is how innovation works in general of course, where *thought* comes before *action,* meaning that before we could go to space, we had to imagine that going to space was a possibility at all. From there, we start to flesh-out our thinking, share our thoughts to collaborate and develop the processes, tools and products required to make it a reality. As we start to build, we come across various hurdles and challenges that inspire new thinking and help us redirect and refine our activities until we get to where we want to go - meeting expectations.

But, we are never happy once there, so once we arrive and even whilst we are on the way, we start creeping the scope and looking to next steps in our imagination, developing more expectations, new milestones, enhanced direction. And this is what is happening constantly in the crypto scene too, and the more it progresses, the greater the catchment area and inevitable market capture becomes, bringing in more of the hands that will limp and trickle in, but absorb increasing amounts of tokens spread across a much wider user base. 

The financial world is currently in very volatile conditions, being disrupted in many ways, especially by themselves, as they look to extract as much as they can before it implodes. This is going to lead to more volatility and pains for all of us, but that also increases opportunities and many are going to be turning to distributed, decentralized and alternative processes, as they recognize that taking responsibility for our own economic welfare is the only chance we have to impact on our own states of economic and personal wellbeing - as individuals and within our respective communities. 

As said, crypto is going to become increasingly relevant in the coming years in the lives of most of us and the more it does, the more it will. It creates a very strong feedback loop that integrates crypto and new financial services into many of the parts of our life that are important to us, returning our sense of agency to meet our own expectations. 

The price is going up and down on assets is just part of the process, but on crypto, I am very, very bullish, as our dreams turn into thoughts, thoughts into creative process and process into building a reality. It might be a messy process and it likely feels that it is moving far too slowly with far too little organization, but what the changing narrative is doing is slowly working toward reaching a decentralized consensus, that we do have a say in how our world operates.

All of us are *all-in* on this life, but now we have more opportunity to choose which direction we are going to take into our combined future. For the first time in history, we are attempting this not only at a global scale, but with tools and processes where there is no one voice leading the way. Exciting times.

Exiting it makes sense if there is a better alternative or if you need some funds to accomplish something in the real life. Also, some of the cryptocurrencies like stablecoins can be a stream of revenue that ensures recurring earnings so as to not need to sell assets which are more valuable than the price reflects them. So for the moment we should HODL and grow!

I'd have an exit strategy for most of my tokens when they reach a certain price with the exception of Hive because this is more like a hobby as such.  I'm still not of the opinion that crypto will take over in the future. I think it's a house of cards that will come crumbling down soon to be honest when it really starts affecting the US dollar.There are too many cowboys in the space as well and I would trust the blood sucking bankers more than some of these guys.  Our generation will make the most of it until it tapers off. Some day BTC just won't bounce back.

I can see that scenario playing out too - but I also think that we are going to see more innovation coming into the scene , which will add more usecase to the tokens - most won't last though. What I think is interesting however is that tokens like HIVE that people see as hobbies, are the ones that actually have value. How many other tokens do you hold for the hobby factor?

I've been thinking a lot lately about what the future price of BTC might be.  I know there is going to be a point where my wife's family members who bought in are going to want to get out.  I don't see myself doing that though.  Especially given all of the stuff that I have been reading about collateral and the benefits of just holding your BTC.  It might be a harder sell to convince them of that though.  Maybe by then I will have the funds I can just buy out their stake.

This set of lines really got me. They're true words, that's exactly how things have been done since time. You see the picture in your head and you work towards creating it..it might not be as perfect as we visualized but then the fact that we could actually bring it out of our head is great enough. If it comes out almost as we want it, there's always a bigger picture that would always pop up, we're humans , always hungry for more.

I'm sure your friend is trying to play it safe and it's normal to be scared because in crypto you're not sure of anything. But like you said, just a little faith will go a long way especially when combined with other little faiths of others, it'll end up creating a milestone of faith that'll end up being the driving force.

I love the way you have expectations concerning the crypto market.  I hope your expectations pay off eventually afterall it's a game of luck and smart decisions

Eciting times Indeed. Reading this made me realise the importance of bit coin and it's importance to explode in price. This will make people feel late and incapable of participating due to price.
