I think the conversations you usually have with her has sharpened her brain enough to make her at least smart and being able to think of so many things by herself.
At some point, some people may even think she’s an overthinker
They may call it anything but her brain is just being very sharp for a kid

It reminds me of a technique of my own. I just take a deep breath, stop thinking and stay in the moment. Stopping time.

I think there's a lot of pressure now for us to be happy, to the point where people assume if they're not happy every minute of every day, something must be wrong with them. When it's just not normal to be that all the time. Not a large majority of the time, even.

Emotional control or rather self-regulation *is* important, except we're not taught how to do it in modern society. Rather, the opposite. We're bombarded with information, encouraged to ruminate in a very anxiety-inducing environment, then wonder why everyone's so depressed all the goddamn time. 

I like your attitude on this very delicate topic. I wish more parents thought like that.

Your post reminds me a book that I read and have in my library since 1970 that my mom gave me, the important thing about this book is that it gives you a fresh start because it precisely talks about BREAD: Father, Child, Adult. And it can heal wounds from the day you were born, it is a very dynamic book and it is always very important to read it again and again and each page gives you secrets and details of how to live well even with people who did harm. I recommend it.

Sometimes I have to remind my self in okay too, or I'm okay also if I don't feel ok, but when you suffer from a mental illness it's not so easy convince a rampant negative brain, but we must try our best for do it. 

Reminding ourselves that we are okay is more powerful than we expect. And it can work in a lot of different scenarios. Being frustrated at work, getting into a small accident where no one got hurt, making mistakes, etc, can cause people to panic, angry, or have all sorts of emotions and poor decisions. By calming ourselves and realizing that we're okay, we can better analyze and handle the situation.

There are so many times I put my life into check especially those times that I may feel down maybe because I feel I’m not doing enough for myself and at the end of it all, it always result to me telling myself that I’m okay. 
If we don’t place ourselves on all of these emotional checks, we may just flow with the wave instead of standing a ground and letting ourselves know that we are okay and doing well

ut this is my gut reaction, reptilian brain if you will.

I am raising or helping to raise my grand daughter, and although I raised two kids of my own and adopted a few, starting over with an infant and then a toddler has been a labor of love, but stilll a labor of learning how to commuicate with someone with no words.

I guess that seems silly, but in reality, it is reality. 

A toddler has few words and understands few words. 

So our converssations are frustrating to us both, but we have learned to communicate through smiles, hugs, kisses, pointing, and I try different objects until I figure out which one her noises mean. 

It's hilatrious at times to hear some words so clearly and then whole sentences of garbled noises, but she looks at me like she is speaking so clearly about what is on her mind.

Humans learn a ton of stuff to be humans and not dogs or cats.
We sometimes forget the steep learning curve of language.
And we completely ignore or just use brute force like belts, paddles or timeouts to deal with the emotions.

I think emotions are as difficult as language. And what you describe is a way to learn to deal with our need to express our emotions in a constructive way.

Your time out is perfect, not for it's length, but for it's procedural effect.
Feel emotions
Take time out
Sort through emotions
Figure out what they mean
Or what you want.
think of the words to express emotion
gauge their effect, change words if needed

We should spend as much time learning how to communicate emotions as we do with language.
I think most of us are considered emotionally immature because we never went to emotion school, while we spend practically 12 years of 12 year school learning English or German or Finnish, so we can communicate our words. 

Comparitively, We spend no time teaching people how to scommunicate their emotions.

I think you have discovered, or simply focused the light on a big deficit in our educations.

Small steps is an angel brother. You've really gained some valuable insights from the book brother. I think sometimes, just reminding ourselves that it's okay not to be happy all the time can be a relief.
