I see a little bit of a turn away from the large conglomerates, to the more decentralized stores just in my weekly shopping trips. We made the choice to not support the large chain grocery store here (Safeway), and to support the smaller business stores. 

We avoid the chain store brands and go for the smaller brands when available. The coffee shop where we used to get our coffee did a poor job of the covid-19 lock down and pretty much lost a 30 year long customer to a new Coffee Brand. They will recover I am sure, as I am also sure that we will still on occasion visit and make small purchases.

The division of the people, the pitting of the people against the people, during this time is pretty much run by people that like to pull strings and to cause strife and unrest to further their goals of society and to turn society in the direction they want to go, but I think that is beginning to back fire on them a little bit.

Instead of governments breaking apart large conglomerates people are beginning to do it with their own choices of what is acceptable and not acceptable. And when large businesses start to get into the what is acceptable and not acceptable choice, (such as all the Facebook Ad pulling), then society is approaching the tipping point back toward the needs of the people.

It's sad the way the world thrives on drama and hides under the 'freedom to express myself' mantra. Because of this mission to be inclusive and not discriminate, we tend to excuse a lot of vile and inhumane behaviors. I have no problem with one sharing their thought and doing what makes them happy but I definitely believe we have to draw the line at some point.

We CAN be the change and the instruments of change.  I really don't believe in luck but I certainly believe in work to maximize my chances.

Yes.  And we need to realize there are no good cards or bad.  Dolly Brunson won his last World Series of Poker (his 4th spread across 40 years I think) with a pair of 3s.  Not the cards you'd ask for when 10 million is at stake.  We all have the cards we need, just need to figure out how to play them.

My very best wishes to you and yours in this very hard time of mourning and loss.  No matter the circumstances it's a hard time and yours seem more than normally difficult.  Maybe even to the point of being called bad luck.

I am sure you may not perhaps find the perfect words but rather the right ones! I believe time and chance happen to us all... it is more about what we do with our chances within the time allotted.  Preparation is paramount as you pointed out.  Hopefully, we can all get the change in that we want to see before idiocracy comes into full effect!

I 100% agree that you have to be prepared for luck. People think that luck is a magic fairy sprinkling fairy dust all over them out of the blue. I think this kind of view is flawed. Good things come to those who prepare for it. Opportunity comes to those who seek it and for those who create the circumstances even when the circumstances aren't there to start with.

I think it is just in the laws of the Universe to assure a right balance into the world. A dash of sprinkled luck for a dash of work and preparation. It is and it has always been a fair trade.

I definitely agree with you, @tarazkp: we must be the first to promote the change we want. As for your father, I believe that as long as a person is remembered, he will never die. As long as what he taught you remains in you, a part of him will continue to live. Next to the annoyance of absences, you always have the best place for those you loved. And that best place is in the heart and in the memories. Nice and productive tomorrow.

I think that my path in the near-term looks much like today and the mid-term is going to head along the same track, looking more practically at the economic and community aspects of life and my role within that system.

This is indeed the way to go. Our world teaches self importance, personal stardom and the preachers focus on prosperity teachings. There are tons of books teaching about self improvent, but very few about the importance of focussing on communities.
It's all about I, me and myself.

The true power of a united community is underestimated by the "leaders" and it's about time that the correct caliber of leaders start to surface, the ones that have broken away from the song and the dance crowds to forge a new way.

I've known that people get absolutely incensed when they're trying to cause drama (with or without realising it) and I completely ignore them (which was often because I cba), that delusion of relevance might be why it's so effective XD
