*The clock struck and the tingle shivered down
toward the ground where the earth was dark
and in the night where the dew gathered cool
and ragged breath drew for going on the last
as the known past dripped and tapped on rock
drumming a beat to wear smooth future stone
that'll crush bone and turn diamond to smoke
where soon it will choke and return to home.*

*Driving through the glowing blackened roads
a new episode of a long broken tale's demise
only the wise live foolhardy enough to attempt
a life spent on chasing the dreams of making
with the heart aching truth that all will discover
that the love loved is within the arms of another
a heaven and hell split by bright endless abyss
all for another kiss of the night's moistened lips.*

*Struck hard by a blow to remove thickened skin
a graze with death and the breath warm on neck
curse the inflection of the voice at these times
as reason and rhyme flail wildly as pennant high
and a sliver of azure sky fell to shatter the silence
to give rise to the breaking of the universe's mold
and in the early cold where the dew came to rest
moments gone the best and the worst of all time.*
