Complaining doesn't mean correct

I have about 5 minutes to write a post on my phone, while normally I spend a fair bit of time developing content. Of course, what people often forget when something is developed is what goes into the background process.

For exsmple, my father was a painter and while he spent 2-300 hours on a single painting, his skill was developed over an entire lifetime. This is the experience behind content, a photographer's skill with their camera or editing goes well beyond a single image, a writer's thoughts far deeper than a book or an article, an athlete's game is based on thousands of hours of training.

Of course, some people don't improve their skills or knowledge over time as instead of learning from the experience, they just create from habit. Same thoughts and process over and over and over. Stuck in a loop but thinking that time put in has value.

What tends to happen however is through all of the repetition one begins to assume that they are right as afterall, if they are not right, why are they repeating it so often. It is a bias of experience but due to all the information omitted, it is a potentially poor position.

I find this on Steem quite a lot and perhaps and sometimes blind to my own views of the platform. People get into habits of how they see and use the environment without recognising and adjusting for other ways and of course, the changes that are taking place.

One of my students yesterday was talking about all the complaining on social media with a lack of action to follow up. What they are complaining for is sympathy from the group, pats on the back to make them feel better but what they are complaining about is nearly always some form of change. My view is that these people might not be the most intelligent if one takes the, *intelligence is the ability to adapt to change,* view.

Complaining about change without action to adjust is essentially saying they don't have the ability to deal with whatever has changed. The sympathy they get (attention seeking behaviour) further supports their position not to change. That lack of movement lowers the experience also and therefore, the chance to learn and develop skills to adapt for future change.

The less some one learns and the more repetition that takes place, the further one can get from what is actually taking place while concurrently feeling proficient at handling it, even though the results are getting increasingly erratic. Of course, due to their feelings of knowing and their experience, the change is wrong, not them. It is a blame game to avoid actually recognising their own position and lack of understanding.

Of course, I might be wrong and the people who complain about, but don't learn and adjust to a changing world are the most intelligent among us, no matter how poor their results and unhappy they are.

Change is a super interesting subject, I bet @revisesociology has a word or two to say on this matter.

You should have tried subtly adjusting their chair seating positions to add that into the mix. Just enough so it's not obvious anything's changed. My favourite was to angle the the base backwards a couple of degrees.

I've had fun with that in the past. Then just kick back and watch them try to figure it out.

Your timing your posts funny. Complaining without action as a cousin to being passive aggressive. Yet they say the squeaky wheel gets the grease.  Complaining is not always the answer but it is a form of action or first step to action. Perhaps the writer will hear the complaint and the next post will be under 5 minutes. LOL

My previous employer called this victim mentality. This place is going to crap and there is nothing I can do about it. It's amazing how long it takes when you ask these people to get them to pinpoint what is actually going to crap and give specifics.

Most of the time they either can't pin it down which usually means they are just griping for sympathy, or you get them to pin it down and they can actually do something to make their life easier.

Also, as an amateur photographer, it drives me crazy when people complaining about paying a hundred dollars for an "hours worth of work" or a 1-hour photography session.

I do too. I think the world has made a lit of victims and keeps reminding them who and how they are being victimized, even if it isn't the case.

Imagine those that never embraced something as “simple” as computers and emails at the workplace? They have thought they could just leave and get on with their lives but there are some changes that will follow you no matter where you are!

A lot of people fear adapting because they have to change themselves and by most people's book, *Themselves* aren't the problem. I tihnk it is a fear of loss of identity too.
