<div class="text-justify"> I live in the north, so as the "dead of winter" approaches, the days get quite short. For example, these pictures were taken on my way to work this morning and I was at work before the sun broke the horizon. I am going to spend before sunrise til after sunset in the office. Sunrise was after 830am and sunset will be at 345pm - so I don't have to be here many hours to be here "all day".  Last night, the price of Hive pumped up slightly and moved from 85 to 105, about a 20% shift. With the stake I have, that amounts to almost a year's salary added to the technical value of my Hive account in a few hours. It has dropped back a bit now and I didn't sell any at all this round, but it is still quite incredible to me still, as the real world of my life doesn't consider these gains real, as they are completely *unrealized.*  I was thinking about this a bit in regards to my work however. It is hard to concentrate on doing my job that pays okay, but takes a large amount of my time and energy, while these kinds of movements are being made. If my plan comes to fruition over the next year or so, I am hoping to have enough passive (or near passive) revenue streams incoming that I wouldn't have to work if I choose. As I have said, this has to be sustainable through the "thick and thin" of the markets, so I am not close to that yet. I suspect that once the top of this bull is reached, the market is going to regress well back into a deep bear, and although I suspect it won't be "as deep" as many might think, it will certainly trim back earning potential, even on assets such as Splinterlands. They might keep gaining players, but the yields for owners will most likely decrease as the markets retract too. I would posit that the future bear will average 10% of the high, meaning there will be a 90% retrace, perhaps more on some tokens. For me, this means that I whatever revenues I am getting at the highs, I have to be prepared to "lose" 90-odd percent of the value. Currently, that wouldn't cover close to my salary needs, so there is some way to go to set up for that. But, it would still give me a relatively significant supplementary income, which would be like working a second job part-time, *without having to do the work.*  What I was wondering is, how do the billionaire businessmen really do it? A lot of people assume that the reason they keep working insane hours is out of greed and ask of them, "Don't they have enough?" - But I don't think even the most powerful greed would be able to stay motivated *unless* they at least simultaneously really enjoyed what they were doing. For example, I completely understand why many people who are earning through Splinterlands are no longer posting unless they actually enjoy it. I just don't think the "greed" aspect holds up in court for the people who have money coming in easily. I am sure they enjoy getting paid of course, but to remain dedicated takes more than the drive a salary brings. It could be that they see what they are doing as actually being valuable to the world and likely, define themselves by the perceived value they add. Self-perception doesn't have to align with reality, but I also think that most people have very little understanding about what actually motivates the wealthy to keep working when they don't have to. Most seem to dream about not having to work, which means that the evaluation of those who keep working when they needn't, tends to be unflattering. If I consider success in my career as not working, than those who keep working are not successful, or are broken, or are greedy. I don't think this is true.  At least for me, I like the idea of being able to add value and I see some of my work a bit like being an artist. I think that an artist need never stop their art, no matter if they are successful or not, as there is always more to explore, more to learn, more things to investigate and evolve. I see the idea of "stopping" work as strange, just because enough money is coming in. I think most people would think the same if for example a sportsperson came out and said, "I love the game and I can improve even more, but I have earned enough money, so I am quitting". Those athletes can earn a lot more than many business people who are seen as greedy for keeping on working, yet there seems to be a difference when it comes to earning money directly. I am not great at earning, as I am far too unstructured and do not care about maximizing my time or effort. I am pretty passionate about doing a good job however and I dislike letting people who are relying on me to do something, down, so I end up working a fair bit. My income IRL doesn't reflect that work though and my online potential is definitely not passive at the moment, so what ends up happening is, regardless of whether the days are winter short or summer long - I am generally working from dawn til dusk and dusk til dawn. Weirdly for some perhaps, I think it is part of the reason I am able to keep going as I do. Yes, I get tired, but my motivation doesn't wane when I am doing something I believe adds value. It is only when the value added is no longer relevant enough to do the work, that I start to shift my attention elsewhere. One thing that is brilliant about crypto in general, is it is 24/7, 365 days a year and holds near endless possibility. There is always more potential beyond the horizon. As a happily retired person since 2017, I have not missed my job of 30 years (25 of them spent as a Postmaster). While I loved my job at the time and took great pride in it, I am perfectly content to leave it and pursue other things. I've been in crypto since 2011 and had a nicely profitable BTC mining business until the big drop in 2017 and the high electrical bills sent me looking for other avenues. Now I'm glad to have HODLed a nice bit of BTC and have it sitting in NEXO earning 5% interest while I wait for it to go even higher. But Splinterlands so far is the best, easiest passive income I've ever dealt with. Having played for 2 years and built up a nice card collection, I find the value of my card collection just recently exceeded the amount of $USD I have in my 30-year retirement account! And earning this much money passively in 110 days = about $171 a day, but like you said - UNREALIZED as of yet. Where will SPS end up??

Exclude me from the politics shit, I’m not into it. Setting up passive income is huge. It’s not anything to write home about right now but just having income streams that are constantly coming in and adding small amounts to our overall portfolio is fantastic. As much as I don’t like it, earning interest for keeping my tokens on a particular exchange is great. I’m earning more money there than in my savings bank account lol. Hell even the 10% HBD interest has been great. (I blame you and peer pressure for withdrawing 200 of it to fund my voucher purchase :D! Lol) that you can’t earn in traditional banks. Given the opportunities abound though, one thing is for sure the criminals in government will want their slice. I’m not looking forward to more regulation and that stuff.

Yeah, it's stressful right now on many fronts but knowing that I have some avenues where even small amounts of income are coming in is awesome. Some of my friends don't have that! They just game away and shit. Pretty lame, IMO. I especially like getting small amounts of Bitcoin to the amounts of just some dollar cost averaging, for me keeping my Bitcoin on the exchange. I have been buying in weekly in decent amounts like 50$ but earning 5$+ a week just having it on there is awesome, so I in essence am buying 55 a week or more.

It isn't too bad and the very long Summer days are awesome! Where I am, the sun goes down for about 2 hours at the height of Summer. It is not as fantastic now - but summer bar nights and afterparties were an experience :) I don't know what I would do there. But, I don't think we could go now anyway, as my wife is very attached to her family. Though I am hoping that in the not too distant future, we can have an extended holiday there and perhaps even put our daughter into a school for a term or two for the experience.

I always tell people that I will work until I drop dead. There's something rewarding in activity that is much more valuable to me than money. I have to work or I'd lose my mind. Then again, if I could make money off of "leisure" activities like my art or my photography I would definitely go that route, even if they are less physically active. Sitting around and doing nothing just because I am financially comfortable? That would probably drive me to an early grave.

Last night, the price of Hive pumped up slightly and moved from 85 to 105, about a 20% shift. With the stake I have, that amounts to almost a year's salary added to the technical value of my Hive account in a few hours. This is huge and interesting, am still a newbie in Hive and with this info, I will have to buckle up my shoes in this platform at least to take your footsteps if possible😀. I never knew one can make it big here to the extent of thinking on not working again for salary.

This is the most challenging time of the year for us, especially when combined with dismal weather, it really limits the perfect time to film, however when its overcast as it's colder the air is thinner therefore our video looks crisper. I get what you mean from unstructured, we have been advised to fast track our video editing, but the bottom line is I enjoy making the experience seamless, even if it takes twice as long, if a jobs worth doing, isn't it worth doing well? rather than acceptable. There's some lovely colours in your skies.

I haven't read Focus, but I do remember reading a Goleman book on management a long time ago. It is interesting, but not sure how practical it is at times for most people to follow. However, finding flow is very important to be able to consistently bring value to the table in my opinion. Most people find it hard, because they don't do work they are interested in at all - that do it simply for the money. Which is funny when the same people look at the wealthy and assume they are doing the same, without recognizing the flaw in their thinking.

I am beginning to think that I cannot do what I am doing right now for the next 15 years. The work is great but the aspect of the salaried work where you are directed by others is tiring. Being on crypto, I learned how it feels to self-manage and plan. The business acumen I got in recent years is valuable and I am planning my way around entrepreneurship. I want a situation where I work only if I want not because I need. The final stretch of working for others is the worst situation to be at. You know you are not able to bring in as much enthusiasm as before.

I personally don't see those who are wealthy and still work as being greedy. I usually ask myself how much would I need to have to stop making more money? but I have got no answer to that at the moment. I have come to realize that the richer want to get richer. This is not an act of being greedy but the fear of finishing all at hand while still alive. I would love to keep doing what I love to do and keep earning from it. If the next man decidess to work two jobs to earn more, It's fine by me. All man for himself.

I don't think it is necessarily fear either. I know a guy who enjoys tending to his forest, planting trees, cutting trees, turning them into firewood. He enjoys the act of chopping wood. He does what he likes and there is a pile of wood there, which he sells. He doesn't need the money, but others need the wood and, he doesn't mind chopping it :)

I think I would feel depressed due to having that short daylight time. Will there be six months darkness? If I was unemployed, I would start to work on HIVE 7/24 :) To realize those gains, I think you should do some power down and wait with some liquid HIVE.
