Yes - but that is besides the point. It was actually planned *in hope* based on the volume of Hive being low, as I think it is a good indicator that it is getting ready to make larger moves - up or down. And in a Discord to some close friends, I actually mentioned it, *before* using the image in the post on [retirement](https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@tarazkp/to-never-retire) before heading to bed, which was written after this comment:

And after watching the falling volume over the last couple days on Binance HIVE:BUSD get to a 24-hour range of about 100K, I added a few minutes later:

At first I thought it was going to be a "negative movement", but the HIVE Gods (Korean Bots) decided to buck the trend a bit and move it back up about 6 hours after my comment.

The Korean bots are also playing with HBD:

with *20 million* in volume over the last 24 hours, which is almost 100% of the value of all the HBD in existence currently.

Yes, that is a spike to 3 dollars on HBD. That definitely isn't holding the peg, is it? but don't worry, @smooth's algorithms will be making good use of the higher prices to lower the inflation of HIVE a little and push more into @Hive.Fund - I am not sure how much it has lowered the inflation by in total, but perhaps @smooth has an idea.

So, while HBD is not on peg (enjoy it and covert it to HIVE or spend it if you want - I bought some Splinterlands cards) I have had my eye on, the algorithm that feeds the HIVE DAO is using the higher prices to reduce HIVE liquidity a little and will eventually return HBD back to its theoretical peg of around 1:1 with USD. This means that while all that volume is being driven on Upbit speculation, they are also benefiting the entire Hive economics and helping to fund future projects.

Now, while most people don't have any idea o what I am talking about, since they are just here to blog and earn some tokens, it is good to recognize that there is a massive amount of background mechanics that make it all possible. No, it *isn't perfect,* but it is improving and with the next Hardfork driven by the @blocktrades Team coming up in the next few weeks, the "background" will change again and there will be new capabilities that improve the possibilities for development on the chain. 

This makes the Hive Development Fund (HDF) even more important and hopefully, it will be used to support new ecosystem growth projects in the future. Coincided with a run on crypto and the HIVE token, and the power of that fund is *incredible,* so anything we can feed into it now "for free" is valuable. This benefits everyone in several ways, including reducing the supply of liquid HIVE on the markets slightly and locking it up and releasing it slowly, hopefully for when demand on the token and the entire Hive ecosystem is higher. 

Hive is *awesome.*

I really wish this changed and more people get some interest in knowing how hive really works, so every player can benefit from it, and not only the financially saavy. Hopefully some day we'll see a spike on this number, and more people get really involved with the hive tokenomics!

More people will realize that hive is awesome when it’s later and later but that’s okay. It’s good to realize something later instead of never! Meanwhile, I can point to it if I wish and throw salt in some friends wounds telling them, β€œshoulda listened to me” type stuff hehe. 

The spike is great! Lol. I was saving my HBD to exchange it when it got closer to the peg but it wasn’t doing what I wanted so I left it alone then bam! I see you and the LBI post that it spiked and downloaded keychain again on my phone and got 24 hive for 9 HBD, gotta love that lol. Would have been good to get some stuff in Splinterlands but I’m going for maximum hive power at this moment!

With blocktrades having the daily limit at 1.7k I've been slowly migrating between a couple of accounts to draw that 20% HBD. I picked up yesterday evening when it dipped to $0.92 and staked it only to sign back in less than 12 hours later to see a 300% increase. *Shit the bed.*

There is always an oasis in the desert.  This is bad news for HBD and shows we need a great deal more work with it.

However, the fact that the DHF is benefiting is a big step forward.  The money flowing in is really helping to pad the DAO.  For this reason, the Korean pump is helping to pull $HIVE from the market.

That will, at some point, lead to more development.  Perhaps the development can be to help stabilize HBD some more. πŸ‘

thereare only about 25M HBD, so what they are playing with on the exchange is a fraction of it - it is silly. But, at least for now, we can benefit. If there were 250M HBD supported by Hive, it makes it a different story to pump it - 2.5B different again :)

It really is Korean trading bots on Upbit. They are buying and selling small amounts of HBD many times - it is like a ponzi crossed with playing chicken - the last one out loses!

I woke up seeing HBD at about $1.80 and managed to get myself some more Hive,
that I will probably convert to BTC ( at least partially ). Living entirely on crypto, the time couldn't be better ( although waking up / noticing this an hour earlier would have made a difference ), 
as I could use some cash for my upcoming trip to The Netherlands ( flying on Friday ).

And yes, it's nice to see how ( well ) the peg stabilizer is working in extreme situations like these.

Hi there, fellow chess player ;^)

I was lucky to have withdrawn a couple of 100 HBD from savings and to receive those yesterday. Talking about timing.

I was seriously considering Hive Fest, but then my dad's health deteriorated rapidly and I had to book a ticket to The Netherlands two months earlier. His health is stable now ( but you know what 'stablecoins' can do ). I wish it was just a holiday but at least I'll be able to spend time with my parents and two of my siblings. Time is precious.

haha - normal, isn't it?
In my case, my daughter couldn't sleep for some reason and I was up with her from 3 until almost 7, singing to her and browsing - I went to bed, moments before the spike! :D

This will inspire a post - but no matter how popular Hive gets, it doesn't mean it is mainstream, because of the way it can house second-layer applications. It is like the internet, you will always be able to find something to your tastes :)

Ouch, sounds like a rough night. You must feel sleepy today, just like the dino and turkey I drew yesterday. 

I like your analysis of ( the future of ) Hive and it sounds about right. Glad I inspired you. 

I was joking, of course, but also not really. 

Then again, how can I leave this place? It's like Hotel California and I know way too many cool people in this ~~haunted~~ addictive hotel...

and talking about home - Hive is my home too - The Netherlands and the city were my parents live and where I was born and raised ( Gouda from the cheese ) definitely feels like home, but in a nostalgic kind of way. I am sure I will enjoy my trip, although the reason to go there now and not in September is my dad's ill health.
