I hope one day to be able to help more people on steemit. I have seen some redfish try to be like whales and vote like whales and vote on their own comments at less than a $0.001 vote value, I try to tell them about the dust level, that their vote would have been better spent on the post instead of themselves, I still do, one called me the "vote police", I explained I did not see it that way and that I did not "Tell" him how to vote, only let him know the facts of his vote, he tried to justify, I muted him. Perhaps your actions here will persuade  redfish and minnows, that self voting is a losing proposition.

Nice. Iv never been one to upvote comments as havent passed the 2 cent threshhold yet so would be worthless anyway.

Hi Taraz. I do understand your thinking. Lately i have been struggling in the 70 percent vote power. I just can't get it back. i hate reading a post without voting. It does make me feel awkward.  I can't wait to get to the stage where my vote actually registers an amount. Won't be long as I am pushing myself and is my first target. Maybe you are going to start a trend but doubt it lol.

Duly noted. I practically make most of  my rewards from comments at this stage so it may take a while before I say something similar... It's okay waiting though

I do not think you personally will have much use for it, But it might be something you can post about to let the plankton who follow you know. it is to bring newbies up to a min threshold payout.

That's a fantastic test of faith  I didn't even know this existed, well this declined reward if I'm not, when done by a lot of other people, will it increase the poll?

I personally don't think you should decline your comment payouts, since you are an example of how to interact with your readers. It feels right to me to pay you in kind.

But I like the principle of this... specially because those that upvote themselves to the top with the excuse... "upvoted only for visibility" would reveal their true intentions.

I'm still pretty new here and my pot is a little small, however you have asked us not to vote on your comments, but can vote on your posts which I feel is a must as you have done all the work and deserve it. Am I still on track here?

The whole whaling thing, a friend suggested I get some help from two whales which I paid for, but having read your views I almost feel like I am supposed to feel guilty as I want to "make it" honestly and don't want the people I interact with to not upvote me because of things like that?

This is how I see this playing out. You as someone who actually cares about the community will decline the payout. Someone who does not and simply rapes the pool will "take" the steem you are putting back into the pool.  The bad actor will continue to grow strength instead of the good actor.

Im confused, can't find the option to choose the payout option for posts anymore and never saw it for comments, how do you guys do it?

Frankly I don’t catch the point you decline payouts at your comments...I think that depending on the comment an upvote there means sometimes that you agree with the topic presented...or you would prefer another reply instead?
