Last night, I pulled all of the liquidity out of the LPs I had, expecting the drop to happen and the price to crash. I still expect it to happen this way, but the 24 hour delay so far would have made *quite a difference* to the amount of CUB I have, since I haven't been shy in adding some liquidity. Let's just say, I have burned a fair bit of CUB and LEO with the total fees I have paid in various pools and dens.

I don't mind too much that there is a delay, but if I had known that it would be this long, I would have held longer, but this is the game of tokens and I am just glad that I get to be part of it. I am starting to feel sorry for all the people out in the world, the other 99%, who are that afraid to lose something or require that much social proof, they don't even explore the industry and entertain the idea of dabbling.

The world is changing rapidly for what I think is going to be a volatile move toward something better, but a lot of people are going to be left behind because they are going to wait for the institutions *they trust* to make them feel okay about moving in behind. There will be many people who after the banks first open up easy gateways for the masses and the governments say "it is okay" to get in, will consider themselves first adopters. 

Someone at work said today, "but you can't easily use Bitcoin to pay for something" and he was pretty *disappointed* when I said that it is possible to put it onto a card in moments for contactless payments using an app. Now, he works in a startup IT company and has a high level of technical proficiency - but can't seem to do an internet search on payment methods in the last five years, but knows about the industry. 

No, it isn't always the handiest to use crypto for stuff, but it is getting easier. However, I think that a lot of what has been holding back the technology for convenience is level of usage from crypto enthusiasts myself. Yeah, I have the card, I have the app - but do I use it? 

Nope.

The reason is that I don't have enough to spend frivolously on life, without it heavily affecting my future position, so I keep living within the means of my IRL incomes, as if crypto isn't IRL, or income. Yet, as price climbs, more people will start spending larger amounts, making it far more viable to spend time building gateways for usage, as they are more likely to be used. In some ways, it is kind of like getting many exchange listings, as it opens a token to more users - but with consumer gateways, it expands it further into life activities. The more people who use crypto for interacting with the real world, the more who will, as it normalizes in society. 

But, if all the gateways are built through centralized banks, institutions and corporations, bit by bit, they will hold the majority of tokens and manipulate them like they have always done. It is because of this that DeFi is so important as it allows for uses to support users, sans middleman. Not only this, it brings a very high degree of autonomy and mobility to individuals, as they do not have to worry about their wealth at borders, as well as options to earn on the tokens they collect through their daily activities, like running a business.

For example, imagine taking business payments in crypto and then using those payments to put into a pool to earn some level of interest, before having to report tax earnings. This essentially means that the initial payment is worth more than it was at time of taking, without the token price changing at all and without the initial buyer being harmed in any way, as they paid the same amount as if it was in fiat. Banks of course do this all of the time and in a multitude of ways and have been for years. It is time to bank ourselves, back ourselves. 


So yes, while I have been exploring DeFi for only a little while now, there is a huge amount of potential to come through, a lot of convenient ways to get involved (someone please integrate onto Hive) and a lot less fees in the process. While everyone is chasing large APRs, the value in the future will still come through mass adoption. We are in the early days of all of this though and while the banks scramble to get involved in crypto, crypto is already moving onto the next iteration, making it hard for them to keep up, let alone make it worthwhile with their top-heavy and investor-greedy models.
