## Chaos Legion pack open day! 

First things first:

28 regulars and 1 gold foil Blight - this is 3 more regulars than I was expecting. I am not sure what I am going to do with them all, but selling isn't an option. Currently, a regular is worth $190 and the Gold is $1100 but I assume these are going to be quite volatile in the early days, especially while people are looking to combine. Combining for leagues has made a big difference to the supply of cards, as more people are combining rather than keeping singles now. 

I have combined for one MAX Doctor Blight.

One thing that @revisesociology brought to my attention was that the "slow" buff has been replaced with Camouflage - which makes this card a fair bit stronger in my opinion, as it is protected in the backline. That is a pretty brutal change in my opinion, that increases the value of this card a lot. I have played a few rounds, but it is going to take me a while to sort out what works for me. This card has a lot of potential though!

So far, with around 70% of my packs open, I haven't been very lucky with the pulls by way of Gold Foil Legendaries. This is 5000+ cards and I have managed to get *two* lesser GFLs.

The USD value looks healthy, but not in comparison to what I paid for all of these as I had to buy *a lot* of vouchers, but my hope is that in time they will start to appreciate in value and also earn a little on the rental markets. As always, time matters and I think that these should appreciate quite well as we move forward. But who knows, this is crypto. 

When it comes to the rental markets, they are going to take a while to absorb the influx of new cards, as even though there are many players coming in, this is a huge amount of new supply dropping onto players and most buyers are not going to play most of the cards at this point, meaning many will move into the rental arenas. This is not too bad, as it gives incentive to play more and hopefully, even learn a bit and move up some ranks.

The cards seem pretty good overall but I need *far more* experience playing with them and my "experimentations" have been quite unsuccessful so far. With all of the new numbers and possible combinations, it is going to take me a little to get my head around. I am not used to managing or having so many cards to choose from either. 

The other issue is that while I didn't get much bite in the GFL department, I haven't managed to pull enough summoners either, something I was really hoping for to improve my ability to compete. Summoners are expensive, so being able to get some in packs makes a big difference. I am *not even close to maxing one so far, and I have opened more packs than I did with DICE and got a couple maxed summoners.

I did manage to get some normal-foiled Legendaries to L3 however, so that is good:

So far, I am a bit disappointed with my pulls, but I have 300 packs left to crack, so perhaps I will get somewhat luckier with those. I am also planning on buying some packs in the open sale, but I am unsure if I will be able to get any, as there is talk of them selling out before. If they do all sell prior, I guess all I get is a refund on the mass of credits I hold for it. :D

Tonight though, I think I will play a few more rounds and see if I can get some kind of groove going with the cards I have - and try not to open the last few packs - *but it is hard not to!*

Damn, everything I'm reading so far is saying that summoners are hard to come by! I sold all mine lmao. They were going for a really good price so I wanted to recoup some funds and sold them all. Made 20k DEC off it all.

Super excited for me though, I was supposed to only get 2 Blight's and I got 4! I was pumped with that for sure! I was able to get one to level 3 like I wanted to, then buy one for my alt and get 1 as a spare. The prices have been all over the place but I think I paid a decent price for them. I should have snapped up the few I saw this morning when I first logged in, going for 110$ a piece. I got mine at 140$ and 160$ lol oh well.

Debating when to sell my spare. I kind of did it was a way to get some money back in the future if someone wants to buy it. Would be sweet to sell it in the range of 500$ or so, maybe more.

What site did you use to get the stats represented like that? I checked PeakMonsters but I don't see a way to see what my openings looked like. I was gonna check Splinterstats as well so I might figure this out by the time you respond.

Lastly, I got incredibly lucky and flipped 2 GF legendaries and a GF epic with 100 packs! Pumped on that for sure

Sorry if this question is silly (I'm still getting the hang of SL), but how did you go about acquiring vouchers for that many packs?

I'm incredibly interested in expanding my collection when the expansion after this one lands, but I'm having a hard to figuring out how I can get enough vouchers to actually buy the darn things!

Did you buy your vouchers? Were they all airdropped to you? (Or however that works xP) This inquiring mind wants to know! ;P

I struggle with new editions too. So many new cards to learn. I've found myself falling into old patterns. I'll see a card that fascinates me, then I'll buy it off the market and slowly incorporate it into gameplay.
I have a stack of packs, but don't really want to shell out for potions, when I'm getting so much SPS for the DEC I'm holding, and the packs are giving me airdrop points too.
No rush to open them. 
I'm toying with the idea of getting each of those fiends maxed in gold foil, before I do much else. I can see them helping with the daily quests, without much of a learning curve.

I have considered selling some of my cards, but I have never sold any at all. Not sure if holding is better or not. I opened mine to improve my gameplay, but it was a costly exercise :)

The maxed golds are good and the ones I have gained so far have helped a bit I think. Not sure how long the ROI is though! :D

I had bought some alpha packs when steemmonsters came out but never "felt" too much for the graphics ... so I just let them gather dust ... until recently ...

So a few days ago I decided to dust-off my Alpha cards (not too many) and learn how to play Splinterlands and play a game or two. It's pretty fun I think and I'd like to progress beyond "Bronze III" but ... I'm totally puzzled ! 

This is nothing like the games I've been used to. I mean, I used to play Magic: The Gathering back in 1995 -1997 ... So how on Earth does one buy cards ! I went on Splinterlands. com, everything seems to be "sold out"! I then tried on the secondary market where prices are quoted in USD but in reality one needs "DEC" or the even more mysterious to me "CP" to pay ! WTF ? Then I thought I'd go to Hive engine and swap hive for DEC but it looked like DEC was on BSC, Eth and some other chain but not on Hive / HE ? 

Anyone cares to give me hand here ? I feel lost!

The cards in packs come in releases and have been sold out. Today was the first opening for the new set of "Chaos Legion" but it was only for the presale. There is about a month left before the open sale, unless wanting to buy some "vouchers" from Hive Engine and buying packs through the game with those. 

The packs are predicted to go fast though, so be ready.

As for the chains, Splinterlands connects up to quite a few now - but it is possible in game to buy credits (can use these to buy packs when available) with HIVE or HBD directly. The "CP" are the collection points of each card and this is used to determine which leagues people can play. More CP, the higher the potential league - but the cards still matter of course, to win.

Thanks for the answer ... although I don't quite know what to make of it ... so I should go to Hive engine and buy "credits" ... which token is that ... I see DEC, SPS, Vouchers, CHAOS, XCHAOS ...  I'm still lost ... what tokens should I buy and how do I use those tokens afterwards to get some cards ? Is there a "Splinterlands for dummies" post somewhere around ?
