It's more about the ceremony I think, which I can kind of a appreciate.  It's not so much about it being overly patriotic. Even though it is definitely patriotic adjacent. I'd view it like the changing of the guard in England.  I've never heard anyone really complain about that.

I don't care at all about any of the patriotism. The military flyover is such a waste of taxpayer dollars. It was revealed that the US Army pays the NFL millions of dollars to have the flag out everywhere and keep the national anthem as a focal point of the pregame festivities. I don't know any friends in my age group that get fired up about the patriotism. Maybe it had traction with my parents' generation, but millennials don't give a f*ck! 

I think many people see it as just an exaggerated show, as you described. And there are those who ignore it completely because it has become just a part of everyday life.

I used to care about the NBA All Star game some twenty years ago. I still kind of do but last time I saw it it was not a game at all. No effort into it, no competition, just a free pass to anybody to go at the ring and abuse it in whatever way they would think of.

It wasn't like that in MJ and Kobe times and before that. There was less foul play but still there was also this thing called defense.

I guess the super bowl is at least as competitive as  it can be.

Why on earth would you be shouting at neighbourhood kids for stealing apples off your tree? o_O

But then again I'm of the opinion that everyone should plant fruit trees and grapevines and berry bushes on their front fences XD And vege planters just outside would be pretty cool too but they seem harder to manage (especially if you have a stupid council).

I am not a football fan and didn't  watch Super Bowl. But I do appreciate the patriotic display, I think it is good to feel as one nation even if there is a deep disagreement between the two sides in America. 

I appreciate the opportunity I got here and I identify as an American. Every time I come back to US from abroad I feel happy and that I have arrived home.

I think the Super Bowl is overrated. However, not only they but the whole world is accompanying them and exaggerating it.

I believe that mass media in countries is controlled by goverments to influence their citizens. A government can easily make an important thing forgotten thanks to a sport game, particularly a derby.
