Reading your post made me reflect on my own life and how I approach challenges. I'm thinking about how I can find that 'flow' state in my own activities and hobbies, and also how I can be more aware of the systems and structures that shape our world. It's a call to be more engaged and thoughtful in my own life

Hobbies: Lily can do choose, but she has to stick to it for a while. She doesn't have to be good, she's only 6, so it's more fun. She chose Taekwondo, which is great because I really, really wanted her to learn a martial-art. It's an amazing thing to learn. Next in line is piano, but I couldn't find a teacher that I can afford - yet. Just got a hint today, we'll see how it works out. Music is my second most important influence in growing up, so...

Elections: Happy to read that an anti-immigration party has lost some votes! If the new German government does their job right, the AfD will disappear slowly, or so I hope. They don't have enough problems that really matter. It's good to see that the tendency to right-wing policy is not winning everywhere.

So it sounds more like they stole this holiday for Halloween more than they did from Easter.  What do I know though.

well i think feelings  tells a bit to others  about a person if they love what they are doing or not so you might be right about  the boy though with just observing is mood and emotions while playing

I've known a small handful of artists like that.  Some of them are professional concept artists actively working in "the industry".  Seriously amazing artwork.  Something missing.

Youngest and I were discussing the same thing about music, he says that you don't need passion as you'll still be good if you practise enough.  I partially agree with him but said that like with the art example above even when someone is playing technically brilliantly you can still hear there's "something missing" even if you don't know what that is and even if you're like me and don't have a clue what you're listening to/for.

From a coach point of view, unmotivated participants are a pain in the system to work with.  Especially when they desperately don't want to be there.  The way I did things when my kids were bouncing around sports and hobbies (I say like they've all tried so many things) and the way that most parents in my area seem to do it is basically when the kid cries boredom is force them to finish the term/season/whatever the paid period is.  This way if they were just crying boredom because they were in a mood/it's gotten harder there's plenty of time to push past that phase and hopefully find the love again, otherwise it's probably relatively safe to assume they have actually lost interest.

There are some exceptions like when I let eldest quit footy on the spot after he came home early crying from footy training as one of the other kids had been bullying all the smaller kids off the team and eldest (never one to back down) got into fisticuffs with him.

Meanwhile youngest is old enough to know that he just needs to keep pushing now that we explained plateaus to him (he hit his first one recently).  He's currently doing absolute minimum half hour daily practise and adding on more when he's in the groove/ has time.

I think most parents would like their children to achieve what they couldn't in their life. If a child didn't want to study, he/she should be directed to getting a profession instead insisting on study.
