I am sure that explicitness in modern content could undermine critical thinking. By not exercising deduction, the ability to solve complex problems atrophies. A valid concern arises as to how new generations will develop fundamental analytical skills if essential learning processes are omitted, affecting the ability to face real challenges and discern the validity of information. They simply die in the concrete jungle.

Just another reason why the schools over there have it right as they teach classes about vetting your sources and determining if something is legitimate or not right?

There's a slippery slope here: Will people treat AI as *"Gospel,"* or as a helpful tool?

I find AI occasionally helpful as a *supplement* to some idea I am forming; some thought pattern that can be made *"fuller"* by looking at the additional input for AI. But the *thought* starts with me.

But many people are also lazy and *"just want the answers."8

That's the lazy approach where the gospel according to AI is on the memu, and nobody *questions* that. But it's also the possible road to Idiocracy because... *well*... in olden times, it was the GIGO *(Garbage In, Garbage Out)* principle; your output will only be as good as your source material. So, in the tomato essay example, if the source becomes dumber and dumber, AI is also likely to become dumber and dumber, *unless* it is derived from AI having *first hand experience* of what it's like to deal with soil ph, cutworms, aphids, root rot and goodness knows what else makes tomatoes challenging to grow.

*That* part of the equation will likely take more than a *few years* to develop.

You made a very important point about how relying too much on tools and AI might make future generations less able to develop their basic skills, just like athletes who need to keep practicing the basics before they become pros.

The world is advancing as things surrounding it are becoming more easier and faster with the help of technology and various tools which at some point is taking away some peoples special talents in showcasing what they can do personally without the help of anything.

A while back I posted my unfinished book on Hive. I haven't written anything in more than a decade. But now I have idea to turn that book into manga. I wonder if I will be able to complete it now...

As an educator, this is one of our dilemma the usage of students of AI. But hopefully in the future in the fastest technology that we have as a moment, there will be a time that it can recognize easily the people who use AI or not. Just a point of view.

Automation and machinery have always disrupted the job market, but have never yet been a root cause of long-term systemic unemployment and poverty. I expect the same from AI, especially as the true believers discover its inherent limitations in spite of the hype.

As for your deeper point, this explains why we were also expected to learn arithmetic by hand and show our work. Sure, calculators were cheap by the 90s, and we have them in our phones now, but actually gaining the experience means we can recognize when something literally doesn't add up if we applied ourselves to real learning then.

Greetings Mr. Tarazkp, there is one thing for which human beings are willing to give everything for which we have worked, we have desired, created, even to give life, even to have sanity, security, happiness by "being right. I think that transcending beliefs and being right, is to expand not reject them, our beliefs, because beliefs support behaviors. 

To move forward you have to do something, instead of believing and being right about something.

Hmm this is so true.. Didn't think of it this way. After all, their inputs come from humans at the end of the day.

For as ‘pessimistic’ some of these types of views, commonly held by many, may seem - with valid reasons to support the ‘foresight,’ *there’s always a yang to the yin…*

As i first started playing more with ChatGPT, I found it to be a rather interesting process of development as wasn’t just looking for quick easier answers and *relying on* it to provide them, but noticing *the refinement of my own thinking process* as more clearly articulating better questions. And as moving forward since with that same type of foundational approach, its been interesting noting a revival of *curiosity.* Not just for surface-level *facts* that could be equally found digging with Google, but to grok deeper details of nuances & interconnected dynamics that need such collaborative input of human curiosity & refined thinking to get to.

In spite of many critiques i’ve seen of AI speaking to the ‘dumbing down’ of people, ultimately *its just a tool… and mirror.*

Indeed, there are potentials for ‘shortcutting,’ numbing imagination, etc. as there are also for expanding innovative thinking and personal development. Perhaps it comes back to that *’what to think vs. How to think’* angle - the question then being, how to use these tools more constructively to grow our own capacities along with the technological development; how to educate in wise stewardship of the power available…

Sometimes I feel like it's all spelled out because people get angry/disappointed/butthurt/whiny because they actually have to figure something out.

And then on the flipside of that I think some creators are so excited about their projects that they're desperate tto share every tiny little detail and quite simply cannot help themselves.

And some of the aforementioned people also may think they have to share every tiny little detail to prove that they did actually come up with it so there isn't some fantard somewhere screaming about how "their" idea/theory/whatever was "stolen" by the creator of the thing they're a fan of.

I think J has looked at chatgpt and whatever else coding and says it's pretty much only good for really basic stuff and sometimes not even that (I know he's played around with it but I don't think he's actually bothered using it in his job but the stuff he codes can get a bit insane and chatgpt would probably tell him it was wrong because it wouldn't have encountered previous examples like that before therefore it can't be done).

I've been watching people do this since...even before I got on the internet actually x_x like with the media and stupid news it's amplified to the point of idiocy with the internet.  The end result is either self reflection and growing up/evolving or massive meltdowns and wondering why everyone always abandons them "for no reason".

We will get to Idiocracy one way or another. The AI revolution is scary, how far is it going to develop in 20 years? 

You have touched on something much needed and real. In a world full of exposure and shortcuts especially after recent AI surge, we humans have forgotten the real meaning of art. In doing so, we often skip the slow and rich process of understanding. Not everything needs to scream to be seen. Sometimes, it is the silent learning which teaches us the most. Let's not lose the art of thinking/imagination just because it is easy to AI it. As long as imagination lives, sapiens will exist and thrive.

I completely agree with your article. Nowadays, everything is presented to us clearly and explicitly, without any mystery. Naturally, when there is no mystery left, we cannot use our creativity. I am afraid that in the future, people will become even more stupid because they do not use their creativity.

The world is evolving, and humans are evolving with it. We can't take out the place or importance of technology from humans. It is arguably that there is good and bad side to it.  There is no doubt that AI has rendered many people lazy but come to think of it. How many people want to stress themselves when they have resource that can do the work for them ?  With the advent of technology, particularly AI, We have  traded depth for convenience, and in doing so, we are losing the ability to process, question, and evolve. 

It is very likely that there will come a time when instead of human curators on Hive, posts will be curated by AI. And it will be able to instantly recognize who is writing the text, a person or AI.

I am afraid that it has high probablity as some of tasks at our office were delegated to robotic process. Thus, we live it at first hand.

I just listen to a podcast with the Steven Cliff Bartlett from the Diary of a CEO, and his gest raised exactly that problem. If we don't get used to find some answers by our own, we are walking to a very poor dimension, were all the "thinking" work is made outside our skulls. Leading us to a very poor existence. And not questioning the "truths" that are present so easily...
