I think another reason the model is dying is that literally, the "influencers" are dying. So many have mental issues because what they do is all for getting attention, whether it is what they want to do or not. The model of "clickbait" for volume means that it doesn't matter what the content is, as long as it generates clicks. I am not sure if anyone has written about this before, so I might attempt it later :) >Businesses have gotten onto this by providing affiliate links and making influencers purchase products than if people buy the product through the affiliate link they get paid. It is a MLM model - just in digital format and where the pyramid is only seen on the backside by the platform. >I've offered them Hive but they know it is hard to build a following. One of the interesting things about the influencers now is they will find themselves increasingly demonetized. They work to build their network, but own none of it. Here, an interface shuts down, the list is intact. Fuck, the entire platform can be hijacked, it can be forked and, and the list is intact. >I've got 1200 followers but I don't hear from all of them. Maybe a handful that I inturn follow and engage with. This is the case with all of them. Kim K's 250M isn't active - only a tiny fraction comment or like even.

Yes and quite often the *click bait* is generated through half naked images which are free to click on and inturn creates add revenue. Where as Hive requires the actual press of an upvote. Two things occur people don't actually see financial value in half naked bodies so don't value it. As can be evidenced on Hive with the few that we have that attempt it only securing low votes. Second point is anonymity, no one wants to get caught looking at a half naked body especially if they know their wives might get angry at them. So there's another large chunk of internet traffic gone.
